Combines out it won't be long now until the season is upon us. Good luck to all and have a good season.

Bad thing to see tbh, all the idiots will be out running soft hares with their chancy pups, getting them ready for the big end of October sale.

Lots of rape round by Tomo but when he gos away it all stops lol

Seen a dog impaled on maize stubble once don't know if rape would be hard enough, but I suppose freak accidents can happen.

It might have been maize tbh, the poor thing had been impaled and must have pierced it's heart.

There was a white bitch impaled on a cane, think it was a young hedgerow with the cane supports tied in

That might have been it, was ages ago when I saw the vid.

Yes it was a little light bitch from what I recall and the lad was quite young, the dog was stone cold dead by the time he reached it.

There was a seedy sex case type called porter back in the early 90's, one morning walking across the tall rape stubbles one of the lads declared it porters paradise

The dog I witnessed was a big deerhound greyhound,he was running a rabbit and on the first strike the dog let out a scream in seconds blood was spurting every where the stalk had gone in up dogs harm pit,we tried to stop the bleeding but dog just passed away, fcucking shame dog was a cracker, lad never kept a running dog again.

Rape stubble is shit wouldn’t run a dog on it till later on in the season till the damp weather as rotted the storks out.maze storks just no full stop that’s a accident waiting to happen tbh I don’t think I’ve ever been that desperate to risk a dog like that they mean to much to me to temps fate lamping it a risky business any way but taking the piss a dog will come unstuck a cropper not working that super high risk for any uk species

Its savage stuff that rape seed there's a field near me he cuts it about as high as your boot.its hard work just stamping on it.and takes a very long time to soften enough to run the dog.

Imagine running on that with bare feet like a dog has to..

Rape is horrendous, but never really found maize a huge problem, used to run it a lot back home, both on the lamp and when they were cutting it, following the forager.

Maze around here once cut is foot long and rock hard. I try avoid.
A few seconds after this pic when the dog was 7 months a hare jumped up.

Fair play the nut kept up with it to the far corner before he pulled up screaming
Combination of a 7 month pup, Mile high stubble and and bull cross enthusiasm ended up with him here few hours later

Goes like bamboo canes round here mate it’s heavy planted for animal feed an when harvested its left about a foot or so long once that sun gets on it its rock hard any uk quarry is not worth the risk for me running it but what others do it’s up to them if they wanna risk it

I totally believe you. I’ve some maize planted next to me now, which is unusual, and I’ve not run it in years and don’t remember it all being spiked up, so maybe it was cut different, be interesting to see. I like hunting the maize when it’s standing.
