Well our first shoot of the year went well. It was cold but dry and a bit of sun appeared. Bag was 122 head comprising of 57 duck 56 pheasant 7 partridge and 2 pigeon. My own contribution wa

It’s been frosty the last couple of mornings, it’s very welcome , hopefully it will kill a few bugs . Unfortunately the Maize and cover crops don’t like it and they will soon be unviable as a drive .

So I had a hour or so around the new bit, my god there’s some rabbits about, I only went around the house and the back of one of the egg units managed 21 for 22 shots, to be honest there was no testing shots, the one I missed was because it was to close, I haven’t even put a dent in them, should keep me going over the coming weeks, nice to have somewhere new to have a walk around for an hour on an evening ?

Plenty of hares here though .I mean very few in case the dog lads are watching

Had a couple hours back on the feeder this afternoon .Something must have bothered the squirrels earlier as 5 came in but only one committed to feed ,very jumpy .Bagged a jay too ,first for the airgun .Thought I’d missed it but getting out the hide I could see it on top a bramble patch about 10 m away ,shot through back of neck in that flappy bit ( technical term ).

Had the one squig .Walked around the wood just before dusk and must have seen 40 squigs.
