I’ve had a few days/ evenings out when the midge have brought an end to the shooting early because I just didn’t want to shoot whatever I was after enough to put up with been eaten alive

second on the list of horrible bastar*ds is when I’m out when they are combining and you get covered in the little weevil things, feels like your hole skin is crawling

Hi Stav,I've been thinking about those ibc instead of 50 gallon drums.how do you make them work automatic,or do you just fill them and hand water the birds?

Well our first shoot of the year went well. It was cold but dry and a bit of sun appeared. Bag was 122 head comprising of 57 duck 56 pheasant 7 partridge and 2 pigeon. My own contribution wa

It’s been frosty the last couple of mornings, it’s very welcome , hopefully it will kill a few bugs . Unfortunately the Maize and cover crops don’t like it and they will soon be unviable as a drive .

I’ve got them set up with large poultry drinkers in two pens and in the other little pen I have it going to a plastic 45 gallon drum, cut in half and fitted with a ballcock from an old cold water tank, to stop it overflowing, I just have the IBC’s above the drinkers and let gravity take over

I see good set up.those red drinkers are great are,nt they.how many birds in that pen 200??

The 2 main pens will take 400 poults the smaller one 250, this season we’ll just be using the 2 main pens 400 in each although the pens are not massive and the birds soon paddle them up, we have them out to wood in under a week, as soon as they know where they live

Got my first batch of birds today . So far so good . I think we are due a window of decent weather. They have started to cut a bit of hay and what looks like a field of wheat that is absolutely choked with black tail grass. So I’m out tonight . I’ve already OpenGL account with an unusual looking/ greyish dog fox , at a ridiculous distance, I wish I’d Mapulatored it . But I would say it’s about 250 meters which is my personal best with the night vision. But I spent so long looking for it in the long grass I forgot to measure it accurately ? Anyway here is a picture, with maybe more to follow….. who knows ???

You must have had better weather than us, and forecast.... ours is ready to chop but just way too wet & too much moisture in forecast.

Good luck tonight

Good start , hope you end up with a few ???.  Checked out a flattened barley field today , pigeons and blacks all over but its awkward to shoot because of its location as Joe public walks right past it. So it's a 4am start on Saturday to get a few hours in before the public are out and about.
