I’m a bitch only person , I just get on better and there not trying to shag every bitch that’s out with you , I like something with a good nose and feet some the ground around here is really bad my bitch now is like a cat across rocks can be scary at times ! I like them to be chilled out and must have heart , I’m really happy with the two Iv got here now and won’t really venture far from them probably breed my own from now on ! I do like having a pup around and watching them learn ! Really impressed by this gwpx seems to be built for around here she covers the ground well and just bounces off things loads drive stamina and heart about brilliant with the baby

whats the gspx on foxes like ?, i know the gwpx have good reputation  on teeth , a keeper i knew few years back had a pure gwp, was good dog , no bad guard dog as well, we had couple fox drives , pushing foxes through one day, and his big male gwp killed a fox not far from me , deff got lot  to offer with coat, drive in them .

Catch and kill a fox. If they can't do that they're no good to me.

as above , if you was after a pup, or another dog to bring in, what do you look for .?  Well for me ,  1st is temp , no point having the best catch dog in the world, if its scared of its own shadow ,

No hard rules for me Ray, just guidlines...

First off, i'll always prefer a bitch but my last lurcher was a dog...

Then the cross would always depend on what i would like it to catch. No point running quarry just to excercise it.

I've never been kennel blind and every cross and type is of interest to me, its just a case of matching type to quarry.

Brought on right, every lurcher will catch sommat and there are plenty of accidents and rescues that are serious at their game but if i'm gonna start from scratch with a puppy, then i want something out of well worked parents and a bit of bloodline...

If i'm choosing a pup from a litter, then (and its the best advice i can give) if the litter is of the type you've done your homework on, then simply go for the pup that first catches your eye, pick it up, pay and leave...

Don't overthink, that should have been done weeks before. Get your new partner home and put 100% into it for the rest of its life. Because that is what is required.

Oh yer, all puppys are fanny magnets, so get it jabbed quick and make sure your early walks go past school gates, five minutes before they let the kids out. Mobbed by mums, they'll keep you there till the kids get out and then you got some serious puppy socialisation.... Just be careful it don't get patted to death. ?

Used to only have bitches but took on a mature dog about 3 years ago and now i would definitely have a dog for the next one. Have to be smooth coat, over 26tts and no more than 30kg running weight.

Love racy bull crosses, just think a splash of bull gives the sort of temperament I want which is soft as shit and fussy when you are in the house but a machine when out hunting.

I’ll alway have from pups I only keep bitches I always like a clean litter reared in clean conditions litter the pup would have to be clean it’s self chunky bright eyed alert an active things I look for is the pup moves freely with good feet that’s constructed right as pups go I tend to go for a pup between the longest back an the shortest so mid way I like rough coats so I try an gauge the quality of coat with what’s in front of me at the time for quality I know it changes after the pup coat turns to adulthood I like a pup that’s really interested in me an what I’m doing there looking at pups on the day I wouldn’t be there if I didn’t know the parents an what they worked like (2) 23tts up to 25 suits me I feel with to small a dog your restricted in so many ways a smaller dog has  to run a lot harder to do the same distance as a medium to largish runner I like a bit more power say a medium amount of power not a to heavy build an not to thin it breaks (3) I like a dog that will have a crack at anything be it On the lamp/ferreting/mooching I’m not up for all this dogs for one job stuff it’s got to be a trier at enything that pops up I’ve not got kennel space for a army of different dogs for doing every single job out there for Lurchers plus the time invested in any amount of dogs kept I’d rather invest time in a master of none I’m a big fan of lurcher to lurcher bred stuff love the traditional type all rounder Lurchers As my choice I try an keep to a type of lurcher I know are bred for my needs an what I need out of a dog

Fantastic genuine post ?

I always like bitches, temp goes without saying, it has to be honest, well put together so as to stay sound, biddable to an extent, ( I don't ask much ) and I like affection gained from a proper bond, now picking a pup to give you that, this is where the trouble starts, so parents doing the job you want, and a depth of beading in the line, I have seen one or two good dogs that don't produce because they lack breading imo, so with coursing dogs that means the lines with names attached, as these are the  old lines that produce the goods time and time again, just how I see it.

top thread paul , well thought out as well .  ,  here another tip for folks , when choosing a pup from a litter . find out what you want 1st  dog or bitch, 2nd one you chose the sex, get the pups out on there own, away from there litter mates, you soon see what there temps are alike,= timid, bold, sensitive , middle type temp for me it be either bold pup 1st, then middle type 2nd. i know sometimes , you view a litter say 8 pups and say 5 spoken for , then its hope for the best with there temps, but if parents are proven dogs at there quarry , so at least they  could do there job with bit of luck, as we all know not all pups will turn out what you want, but your in with fighting chance from proven parents .
