I've no idea who owned Scout but the bloke who had that line of bulls said on this forum, if my memory serves, that even though he had no time for the dogs owner, he had the dog in his kennels and the dog did very well on what he put it on, well enough to put it over his own bitch. If it was just wind he was after i'm sure he could of found better coursing blood...

I can remember someone putting on here that scout took everything put in front of it. Knowing what i know now think it was just ok for a coursing type.

What else does a coursing dog provide ? Yes the dog was in kennel ; it did ok for what it was a coursing dog ,not a type of dog I’d keep as my main lamping dog, but coursing dogs are all one run from jacking 😂

Yer, wind comes in spades but if your looking for a stud i'd rather use a coursing dog that has killed a bit more than just hares than one that ain't.

Not the type i'd keep as a lamping dog either Ron but the title is asking about a stud to a bull bred bitch.

Yes offspring ur right but everything that was needed was from bull side apart from his wind, heard a few tales that the peddler who owned him was saying what scout produced to a bull x lol , maybe after more stud fees put the word about

Some very interesting replies, thank you.

For obvious reasons I cannot be too explicit about things.

However I think Bosun has the right idea. If I were after a pup mainly for teeth, I’d just put my bitch back to a real good bull x. Same if I were back home running the ground I did then, on hunting in the way I used to mainly. She was bred for certain jobs and she excels at them.

I now live in a part of the country where the ground is totally different and I find myself with a ridiculous abundance of certain quarry species on my permission. My bitch does very well and pleases me, but I feel that the right coursing dog would compliment my bitch at this particular game. In theory, the cross should be ideal for me, for what I do and on the ground which I do it.
