We've known about this challenge for a little while.

I think this suspension though has caught everyone by surprise.

I assume it's suspended while the legal case is being fought?

That's the impression I'm getting mate. Some technicality with the wording on the current licences. They will be reissued with different wording shortly that will stand up to legal challenges like the current one?

Looks that way. But it depends on the outcome of it all I suppose. These Wild Justice wankers argument is that the responsibility for judging whether lethal control is necessary should lie with NE, not the individual keeper/farmer/pesty/Gun. Therefore a General Licensing system is illegal and should be replaced with a Individual Licensing system on a case by case basis. Like what we currently have for cormorants etc I suppose?

It's not clear to me if this has been legally decided on or if it is in the early stages of being fought over? Even if it has surely it can be escalated to a higher court for appeal?

Potentially the statute responsible for the GL (Wildlife & Countryside Act?) may need amending....

Waste of tax payers money for what I think any reasonable bumpkin or towny will see as ridiculous.

Frankly, I've thought it is mental that there isn't a GL allowing us to shoot species of low conservation concern simply for the pot! But we have tolerated that because of the loopholes the other GLs have allowed us, up until now.

sorry for being behind the times. only just back into things after a break of 15 years. can't you shoot corvids, pigeons etc, on your own land or with owners permission anymore? when did you need a licence anyway?

I wouldn’t mate, always better to be a witness to a car crash than actually involved ! Lol

Are you fitting in any pig hunting? ( And I don’t mean in the local nightclubs !) Lol

Yes, 2-3 days, that's week two. After we come back from tahr hunting in the Alps...... the pigs, not the nightclubs that is. I've no interest in those, which probably explains a lot tbh. LOL

Good pal of mine went pig hunting years ago over there, loved it.

I have the hogs, dogs and quads DVDs, that’s a bit of me that turnout :)

This isn't the fault of government or natural England.

As said its the fault of a legal challenge and technicalities.

It is the fault of the conservative government of 2000 when they adopted the EU Directive on wild birds without realising the full extent and of it and the consequences to shooting pests , the general licence was the fudge to get round it administered by NE .

Now picked apart but chwis crapham and a few smart arsed lawyers ...I wish the field sports side had some one half as slippery as them ...there running rings around us ...
