The only thing i inherited was varicose veins. A gift from my mother it runs in the family.

Yes mate, get a mortgage over the least number of years you can manage, its suprising how much cash you will save by knocking a couple of years off your mortgage.  Ive got a little olace up the Dales

Large amount of cheap houses around mate, good investments, you can get them a bit cheaper at auction,a friend of mine two years ago got a total wreck 3 bedroom for £25k,fair enough the interior cost him a few quid to renovate after gutting it,but it still looked good afterwards and rented out in an area with a lot of students.

i had property on rent years ago mac  ,when things were   easier              to get rid of bad tenants   it can be a tricky game today getting them out and can soon  cost alot of doe ,the rights these days seem to be bias toards the tenant

That should be simple and straight forward. Leave you cash assets to the kids and the house to your Mrs and on the event of her death it passes directly to them equally ;)

Cash assets  10 bob and a kitkat won't get them far lol... Unfortunately I missed the bit coin gravy train so unless I win big I can't see there being a deal of cash assets as most is tied up in the house... Our plan was if we both make it to retirement then we would sell up and downsize and fund our retirement

A mate had a nightmare when renting his house and by the time he got them out the house was in ruins even the cockroaches moved out lol...it cost him a lot to sort it all out.

What I can't get my head around is why anybody rents? The mortgage calculator for the third house above has it at £231 a month but it would cost twice that to rent it with nothing to show for after 25 years!

£450-50'ish in sunderland, dont know the rentals in durham or Hartlepool,i was in Kingston earlier today having a coffee, cant get a rabbit hutch or dog kennel for £50k down here :help:

That's a really good return. As you know the Kingston area houses are 10 times that price but the rental is only about 4 times.

If anyone intends doing a do-it-yourself will, don't. Pay the money and get a proper one done. It can save your kids thousands in inheritance tax.
