Nik_B 3,791
I preferred them when they were behind the f***ing wall! They are behind a wall an huge economic one, they are acting big because they are weak....it's reminiscent of Germany in the 1930s if you like historical parallels. They have modernised their military which looks impressive but they are no match for the US let alone NATO. The Russians aren't coming for us, we're coming for them, the reason they used power in the Ukraine is a sign of weakness, they had no choice as it's the route all invading armies have used. Accip74 7,112
You're very pro russian nik seen a few of you're posts where you seem to object to any criticism towards them. Well not for me they have been an enemy towards the west for decades and always will be. As for the that c**t putin hope the f****r drops dead. I see on other sites americans and brits blowing smoke up putin and Russias arse, baffling to say the least. Because he puts his own country first and doesn't bow to globalists? Give me a British version of that and I'm sold....by the way I have actually listened to all of his speeches (you see I always do my research) and if you did the same you would see he is highly intelligent unlike our politicians and if you were a Russian you would probably love him. I am a ptriot at heart but I am never going to jump with joy at the prospect of destroying some third world shit hole just for lols....I've worked in several that we have caused havoc in and it was embarrassing to talk to the locals. Anyway I digress, are you happy to just believe our media and politicians without seeing evidence? When we attack a country I want to see as much as I can since we've been duped so many times....especially when that country has 5000 nuclear missiles I must be an idiot..... "If you were Russian you would probably love him" haha.......That's a massive assumption Nik or have you been watching hundreds of hours of footage of Russians saying they love Putin? Yes you probably have.......:-( haha..... I think you'll find they are very split in Russia over Putin Nik, just like us westerners are split over what's right & wrong for our countries. A member of my extended family is Russian, which obviously doesn't qualify me as an authority on Russian views, just a little insight that's all..... Ofcourse now living in the west, they have the benefit of looking back at Russia without state controlled media :-) I see you've highlighted in another thread how 'the state' can be heavy handed with someone they see as a threat, but at least Tommy Robinson is still alive, eh? Maybe you should try living there Nik? Infact I think all these western Putin worshipers would benefit from a little spell in Russia, but I suppose it's much easier to admire from afar..... terryd 8,922
I doubt they targeted the nhs just some silly sod opened some thing he shouldn't and went some where he shouldn't and downloaded the virus As for what it can do it can pretty much encrypt any data visible on the network making it unreadable so suddenly doctors have no history on you or a clue what the hell is going on. With people turning up for appointments and the hospital having no idea why they are there. Pretty bad do. So this is where we find out how good there backups are Ours are fine 12 months on disk over 7 years on tape that's the way it is amazing how lax people get over backups and just assume all is well. The government lady just on the news wouldn't commit and say yes they have backups. Going to be some stressed IT guys running about this weekend. Even with backups going to be a big job checking machines and restoring

scothunter 12,609
During the cold war it was estimated NATO could only hold the ruskies back for 72 hours from crossing into the west. There strategy was to let them build up and use battlefield nukes. Im sure we have better tactics these days and better hardware. There was a running joke within NATO if they invaded into the west on a weekend we be f****d as most NATO forces went home at the weekend lol

Even with backups going to be a big job checking machines and restoring We also test our backups every month restoring data back.... one place i worked had backups but they were all corrupt so worthless, your only as good as your last restore not your last backup I cant comment on other trusts, but we only had a few pc's hit, so they will just be rebuilt, and they only had applications but no data on them... we were very lucky we were hit late in the day so we were able to isolate our network from the N3 Nhs network
Phil Lloyd 10,739
Obviously,...my own PC disaster palls into insignificance, compared to the terrible hurt that the patients of the NHS will experience,...but,..this Ransomeware thing really is a total fecker..Apart from the awesome consequences of suffering such an attack,.there is always that sickening feeling of never, ever being able to get some pay-back. mushroom 13,964
Then why did you say they'd be cycling through every 6 months? Sorry couldn't resist. Did you really just ask that I used to sell Riverbed equipment, not the cheapest but the technology takes a complete snapshot of your entire environment. The benefit is a complete wipeout of all the systems and reinstallation of the backup. Takes about an hour to do But the UK gov would prefer to send money to countries that have nuclear and space programs, instead of upgrading their systems! I know for a fact, a load of NHS groups turned the tech down over the last year or so.

Do you imagine I have pictures of him on my walls or something? I would like to visit Russia just to see what it is like but no I wouldn't want to live there and yes it is far more conservative that most of us could handle. I have also talked to a few Russians which was interesting, most seem to like Putin but they all believed there was a oligarchy that had way too much power probably true. At the end of the day he brought that country back from economic ruin so he deserves some admiration for that at least, as far as them being authoritarian I think Russia is a country that likes it's strongmen and any weakness could end up with a coup like what nearly happened to Gorbachev. As Russia became more powerful our media suddenly sprang in to life with anti Russian propaganda, during the Sochi Olympic games the BBC did some really embarrassing stuff...I notice things like that and that's was what sparked my curiosity. If you look back on the dailymail website a couple of days ago they reported on the Victory Day parade claiming that the Russians have 'spiked' the clouds with chemicals to make the clouds disappear so the aircraft could fly I think a lot of the stories we hear are fake as Russia and the propaganda machine is churning away producing ludicrous stories because it's easier than explaining the geopolitical realities. Now just because I think that does not mean I am sat here wearing a furry hat and drinking vodka
