Trump Under Fire

Recommended Posts

Sorry mate. It seems the hyperlink with that info was omitted from my OP.

The poll was conducted by The Washington Post/ABC News and the 14-page questionnaire can be found here.

They've extrapolated the data from the existing polls they've conducted on previous presidents and presented them in a nice easy to see graphic.

I'll let the reader make up their own minds whether it's indicative of popular opinion or simply fake news but from friends, family, and colleagues etc it's pretty spot on from where I'm sat.

I was surprised by that too but he rolled in on the back of the Clinton scandals and 9/11 was at the 9 months mark. With Obama's landslide in 2008, we know that popularity didn't last.

Before the Hillaryphobes get stuck in I'll refer the honourable contributors to this article from Politico. A new memoir from the former DNC chair suggests that the Clinton campaign rigged the DNC and the primary to stack the deck against counter populist Bernie Sanders. Political shenanigans afoot indeed! However, it's now been 12 months since she didn't win the election and we really should focus on The Donald's achievements which are still stuck in the starting blocks. He's hoping to have tax reform done by Thanksgiving, which is 3 weeks away for non-Yanks. That will bring his promise/completion scale up to a whopping 1.

Here is a link to the Gallup Presidential Approval Polls.

They've been conducting nationwide opinion polls on presidential approval ratings since 1938. Again I'm sure you'll cry fake news but they're credible enough to be used by the left and the right. It does support the ABC/WP poll.

How about this one from Fox News? It also supports Gallup and the WP/ABC.

Fake news? :hmm:

When push comes to shove no-one I know gives a shit who the president of the usa is, we just thought it was a good laugh when trumpy got in, and the fact he got in says a lot for americans and their system of so called democracy

I think it's actually restored many people's faith in democracy. It has mine. There's no one that can say the election was rigged besides the loser. The most bizarre candidate got the top job with no experience and let's be honest with it. He hasn't done anything which also means that he hasn't directly ruined anything either.

If you look at the UK where people really don't care, you've got taxation through the nose. Your own head of state is keeping money offshore. You voted out of the EU with no contingency plan. Your infrastructure is failing. Cost of living is increasing while wages are stagnant. Internal security is at breaking point and yet you all keep voting for the same two options. If you vote at all.

So I suppose my rebuttal is when push comes to shove no one I know even knows who the prime minister of the uk is, we just thought it was a good laugh when Corbyn won all those seats, and the fact that he nearly got in says a lot for the british and their system of taxation based socialism!

Think it was mentioned on Huffington post and I recall some sour faced yankee bird going on about it saying no way trumpy could beat those odds

You're correct. The Huffington Post predicted a Clinton win by a 98% chance. We can read their excuses here.

The difference is the approval ratings are based on people's opinions of his performance so far, not the odds on whether he'll win. I agree that in an election the only poll worth a s*it is the actual result but these are people that have filled out questionnaires on his performance.
