stealthy1 3,964
Think this is the one that happened a while back. Pretty sure a police officer owned the dog Yes it is, and it was, this is just the summery, happened last month.
BGD 6,437
What a surprise, the police officer owner isn't charged with anything

bird 10,014
Real shame can't even imagine something like that happening it will continue to happen while people want macho dogs, i seen the other day a couple with a pit x type and a rottiexgsd , both these dogs were pulling like fook on the leads . There were coming towards me, both my 2 lurchers were of the leads , they just stood there and looked at these 2 other dogs, called my 2 dogs back to me, and let these 2 go past , mine still just watched no leads, the bloke walked past or should i say dragged past, i thought why the fook have bloody dogs like that, it got to be pure macho carnt think of another reason for it. there not family pet type dogs, so there going to be more deaths and kids getting hurt with these type of dogs . when i was a kid all our bull breeds were in kennel+runs , and thats how they should be kept powerful dogs like these , not in a house with kids
Lusitano 294
It's absolutely devastating... but I don't see the point in charging any owner of a dog under these circumstances where the dog was clearly a family pet, well looked after and there was no history of aggression. It is just 1 of them unexpected incidents that unfortunately happens. I don't think bull breeds are for everyone, always had them and always had them around family and my little 1 since he was born but I wouldn't ever take my eyes off my child around my dogs and more so around anyone else's dogs. All it takes is a split second and something happens that the dogs react to and it all kicks off!
ryaldinhio 5,188
I have 2 westies and a lab. I dont leave em wi my kids. They are seperated at all times. Obviously the little uns are allowed to pet em n that when Im about but never leave em. Why people continue to do this with any dog, let alone big/strong dogs is beyond me. j1985 1,984
Poor kid, I can 100% guarantee that dog had shown signs of human even child aggression before. It's always the way
shepp 2,285
People have just got to realise that certain breeds need to be kept away from kids, this is happening far too often and it's nearly always bully types that do it. Han you imagine having your baby ripped from your arms and ragged to death in front of you? The dog was no doubt stronger than the woman and she had no idea how to react in the situation. It's always the way true , the always dog shows signs deff, (standing in front of a child , stiffing up etc , stern look , loads of things, that the owner never sees . and then it happens , the rest is history one dead child or maimed for life , they will never learn , a poor child as to pay the feckin price . like say they shouldn't have strong full on type dogs around kids simple as that.!!
Welsh_red 5,057
So sad. Both my dogs are pets that live in the house and the kids are never left with the dogs on their own. Helps that whenever me or Mrs leave the room the dogs follow us every time . I'm constantly keeping a eye on the dogs with the kids but to be honest they don't fuss each other . Can't help but think if the kids were as young as that kid I'd pretty much never leave the dogs get close enough to them. Poor little kids

Han you imagine having your baby ripped from your arms and ragged to death in front of you? The dog was no doubt stronger than the woman and she had no idea how to react in the situation. I've just recently had a word with my next door but one neighbour about his American staff. We have a bit of land with our house now, some I've fenced off, some is still open with an old barn on which joins onto a small meadow. He walks his dogs loose through this meadow about once a week. The staff must go 60+ lb & it's soft as fcuk around me, but I stopped him & asked him if he trusted his dog if I came out of that barn with my little lad & caught it by surprise? & could he control it? He couldn't give me a straight answer! So I said you know what you've got to do then.......sure enough he had it on the lead next time ;-) People take silly risks with there beloved pets......& when they are that powerful it's madness!
dytkos 17,979
Some people dont realise what a dog is capable of. I wouldnt be confident my mrs could get my terrier off another dog if they were fighting and shes pretty decent with the dogs but how do these people think they could control/restrain/break a 50lb bull type off a child or similar? Cheers, D.
