philpot 5,122
I bought another gun cabinet a couple of days ago as I am getting a bit tight for space in mine and thought it would be handy to have my most used shotguns and FAC Rapid in a separate cabinet. This one is going to be sited downstairs, easier to get my guns out. Now the new one is a 6 gun cabinet and a bit heavier than the normal 3 or 4 gun units and whilst carrying it through the house to the place it is to be sited......................................................my back went CLICK. I am not even able to get my bloody pants on without help, I have a clay shooting competition on today which to be honest I expected to win so I am not a happy bunny, in fact I am anything but happy. Heat pads on and hoping for it to ease enough for me to go and shoot but I really doubt it. P1SSED OFF to say the least. Phil Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,568
Sounds like a trapped nerve Phil, I sometimes get it and it`s very painful. Worked for a doctor once and he said go swimming and then rest, keeping warm. I`m just going out for a stroll with the 12 bore and enjoy watching my GSP working, they are an awesome working dog,- get one Phil. I`ll be thinking about you, 1 Quote Link to post
Welsh_red 5,057
My back clicks and I'm f****d sometimes. Back went once just from bending down to move. Little stone from the drive. Don't know if its medically reccomended or not but I lie down and sleep on the hard floor and it seems to ease up Quote Link to post

Rabid 1,936
I feel for you pal, I had two episodes where I was laid up bad, once for a few months, and again just recently for a week, I hate it, like you couldn't even dress myself, even worse when you have plans for the day like you did. Go see a good chiropractor ( best of luck finding a good one) and then regular exercises help, I have a list to do that loosens my spine up and I feel better for it, also as said swimming is supposed to really help. charlie caller 3,654
Forget the heat Phil, wrap some frozen peas in a tea towel, ten minutes every hour NO LONGER, very effective at limiting the damage and reducing inflammation, I found it very effective after the chiropractor advised me to do it. 1 Quote Link to post

I`ll be thinking about you, spot on i suffer with sciatica (trapped nerve ) its very painful , ive had bad back since the 80s, i am 64 yeh old fart , but deff drags you down being in pain 24/7 . like right now having real bad run with it , been in pain for 8 weeks, the pain in my left buttock , runs down my legs . i am going to have another scan (mri) to see whats happened this time to my discs . i am trying to not have a OP on it if i can, i know it works for some people, and some it dont , my dad had a OP on his back in the 60s, ok it stopped the pain they took part of his disc out, but it left him with a dropped foot, he lost the use of his ankle , i know he was out of pain but its deff a risk, and being honest i am scared of taking that risk right now , but suppose if it get worsed or i cant take the pain no more i might have to take that risk . ive come to a stage in my life regards hunting , if shall continue or pack it up , ive havnt took my dog out this year regards lamping , he only 4 year old, but if your fooked up with pain, going out hunting the last thing on your mind, well it is with me. ive been in lurchers now 30 years and had some great sport day/night , maybe ive come to the end now , shame but that's life suppose . philpot 5,122
Thanks guys, I am a past master when it comes to back trouble and I don't think this bout is going to be be a major problem just a pain in the arse. When it was bad back in the eighties, I was off work for months until I had surgery but I know this is not going to be so bad providing I manage the situation as I have learned over the years. It is just bad timing, quite a few things to do at the moment which will have to be left in order not to push it over the edge. All four of my rifles have the scopes removed in the process of a change over and I am seriously wanting to get them all sorted and zero's done along with Getting some pellets through the Rapid to find what works at FAC levels so I can be out after the rabbits as soon as the back will let me. I still need to alter some shelves in order to install the new gun cabinet....................................and so it goes on, you guys know what it is like when you wanting to get things done. Sod it, it will take what time it needs and again I will have to wait. Normally if I do have a back issue, it is okay in a matter of days since having the surgery, I am hoping this is no different. mark williams 7,568
Lots of " heavy sex" is another cure Phil . That doctor we worked for said "you" must always be on top, never underneath . Saying that I am presuming " your straight" ( excuse the pun) Good luck Pots 1 Quote Link to post
