Lid 194
I hope she will have an exception for kids with bad food allergies. My daughter cannot eat catering food even if they try to exclude her allergens.

forest of dean redneck 12,023
I've seen kids going to school ,munching Pringles, bags of crisps ,drinking cans of coke, truely shocking, ours gets toast or cereal before school or daughter may have bowl of fruit, most have school dinners ,one takes lunch I give him carton of drink, bag of crisps ,sandwiches and a cereal type bar, you can get loaf of bread for £1 and some ham or chicken slices £1-2 a pack ,tub of spread £2 that would last most the week .so it's not like it's expensive either.i dread to think what else those parents feed the kids. neems 2,406
It's laziness not cost. You can buy a bag of apples for about a quid, enough salad, meat, cheese and bread for a week for about 3-4 quid. So that's 5 quid at a push for the basics per week, also fruit and veg is subbed for low earners. But either way it's a lot cheaper than it would be for 5 happy meals.

Gaz_1989 9,539
I do agree it's mostly laziness on the parents part but it is expensive to eat well these days. I don't mean go the supermarket and buy some cheap frozen fruit and veg and some processed meats. I mean to eat a proper healthy balanced diet. Fresh lean meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, brown rice and quinoa, mixed pulses, good sources of fats such as nuts and seeds, olive oil, avocado, oily fish. It's not cheap. The government should discount all nutritious foods and put tax on things like chocolate and biscuits. My daughter gets smoked haddock with root vegetable mash and beetroot at mine twice a week, and she really enjoys it. But it costs about £5. Her cousins get taken McDonalds regularly and their mother feeds 3 of them for little more than a fiver.
