Using the slow cooker for 5 hours with fresh rabbits and a mix of vegetables, sausages, and herbs is a great way to make a flavorful and hearty casserole. The extra touch of herbs definitely enhances the taste, and it's great that you’re following your grandad's advice for the best result.

Personally I like to do them in 1/2 scrumpy cider and 1/2 chicken stock, I brown off the rabbit joints first (seasoned flour) in butter , then add a good amount of fatty bacon, leeks, carrots , parsnips and a good couple of onions. I chucks in whole peeled potatoes and slow cooks it for 5 hours. About an hour before the end  I puts in the left over seasoned flour to help thicken it. The spuds start to break down and soak in the juice ! Bloody dribbling now writing this. Oh forgot to say I puts in some Thyme either dried or fresh , whatever i got at the beginning.

Try it !
