stop.end 4,082
Well if its not staged its road kill.. anyone who has been out with BOP's will know they kill with there feet and talons granted most strikes will be mostly on the preys back or flanks, but they still have to work ip to the head and crush it with their talons to kill it especially predators like fox and badger that have big teeth... and none of the heads of them carcases looked worked on by a golden eagles feet to me. But i do know golden eagles can take fox... but red deer... its not sinbad! Quote Link to post
rob284 1,682
That bird can do some damage if its talons can get a hold of the spine. Good pic. Quote Link to post

jiggy 3,209
That picture looks staged to make the birds look efficient in pest control to win people/farmers/ gamekeepers over and id imagine if that ringed bird had a feast like that there would be fur scattered all over twigs and not several clean and sizeable chunks it looks like a tidy buffet or snackbox. There site is called Cairngorms Nature on FB.They said they also found bits of a roe deer fawn and a red deer calf.More fox cubs were brought to the eyrie before the chick fledged by both parents. Its a long and dangerous climb to the eyrie with a bag of vermin on your back IMO.Edited to add they said they are hares.I don't think they have any agenda its a Nature site.ive no doubt they can take foxes but to stack them out so neatly and cut so cleanly with no spines or bones exposed or fur tossed anywhere, and of course they have an agenda its to keep these birds from getting poisoned after all the years of work that was put in to reintroducing them and whoever knew where nest site was and climbed up there to ring that bird and photograph the chick you can bet was closely involved in reintroduction and made sure there was no lamb carcasses in the photo for farmers to growl about and whip out the guns, or maybe im just paranoid lol nice picture all the same. 4 Quote Link to post
Tallywacker 262
Good find Liam and to those who doubt what an adult Eagle can kill should educate themselves, besides, it's not the first time dead badgers, foxes and hares have been found in Eyries . A few years ago it was thought that there were Irish hares living in Scotland because of bones found in Eyries but it was discovered that the parents were killing hares in Northern Ireland and flying back to Scotland with them. Jesus!! You'd think there'd be plenty of hares on there door stop.. Quote Link to post
Waz 4,293
All looks a bit 'presented' ie laid out. Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Looked and looked and i'm goin with 'shopped'. The critter far left, as you look at it is a rabbit and far too big. The grunters head is just too well placed, making it so obvious and the foxes legs to the right of it (the smaller ones) dont look natural to the photo. And i'd agree with the placement theory too. For my money there are too many dead critters up there half eaten. If Goldies are so worried about carrion they'd turf out whats left when its replaced with fresh. Quote Link to post
