Whats The Best Photo You Ever Missed ?

Recommended Posts

Another one that has stuck in my mind for a hell of a long time. I was sitting on a bus when an old woman, her granddaughter and her great granddaughter got on the bus. They sat 2 seats in front of me and the great grandmother had the baby in her arms and was playing and talking to her. At one moment they were both looking at each other, the baby with it's smooth white skin next to the sunburnt wrinkled face of her g grandmother. It struck me then that there was life, beginning and end. If I could have captured on film what I actually felt it would have made some photo.

I'm not into photography but I saw something yesterday that made me think would make a great photo.

It was a blue tit chase down a bee and take it in mid air like a bird of prey a doesn't sound exiting but it looked superb!

I can still mind of a sunrise in Australia was drinking with a German lad right into the night we were staying at a hostel and just behind it was a mountain with a rock face ledge up the top that just poped out of the wood canopy at the top so in are greatest wisdom we started hiking up it too reach the top before the sun came up in the pitch black with no light bar the moon at 1 in the morning with a bottle of whiskey each wearing flip flops I still can't mind too this day how we dint die climbing that thing but at the top was beautiful could just see the curving of the earth out at sea with the sun coming up over the ocean with a canopy of gum trees and jungle below not one of us in are brightest wisdom took a camera or a phone

That reminds me of a time similar: all the brambles were covered with snow. Terrier went in and disturbed a big old dog fox: by the time the lurchers had got in there too all the snow had been shaken off the leaves and all you could see was the bramble heaving and steam coming out of it. Crazy!

I seen a hoopoe in a sand quarry in Lancashire when I was about 14, and nobody believed me

Cheers, D.

Saw a Hoopoe in a chalk quarry when I was about 14, they believed me as my dog flushed it and the group of twitchers on the quarry lip were not amused!

Seen lots of amazing things, I was just explaining this to my mate the other day, why I spend so much time out and about.

Stood in the pissing rain one day on a steading and watched a rabbit come at me sideways !! was being carried by a stoat, who walked over my boot !!!! to get to a hole in a concrete step, where it dropped the rabbit, went in the hole, turned round and pulled the rabbit in,, absolutely unforgettable and thats only one of hundreds of memories.

Was sat in the camper van this morning, next to the Ettrick river at dawn, and saw a pied wagtail do his dance for the hen bird, puffed himself up and danced round dragging his wingtips off the ground ! beautiful sight. Again, another one for the bank.

Sit and and watch TV ? nah! yer awrite.

I used to pass an old grave yard on my way to work and would often see a barn owl hunting the graveyard .

I passed this one morning in the pouring rain and here was the soaking wet barn owl perch on the grave yard sign yards from me it looked haunting , but no camera.

But best one I missed was a stag at sun rise slowly walk towards me , high stepping through a highland river he stopped in the middle and roared with the sun rising behind him but again no camera.

I usually take my camera with me everywhere but for some reason a month or so ago I decided I could not be bothered, Half way round the dog walk I have a badger running across my path in broad daylight as well. Dogs went mad so doubt I would have got a shot even with a camera.

I also swear blind I saw a big cat once just off the A3 north of Guildford, I have met other people who have mentioned it as well. That is a photo I want but will keep to myself.
