My whippets. Dam and son

Hopefully these few old pictures and some of recollections from my early teens (the late 1950’s and early 1960’s) may be of some interest. They’re all old style “rag whippets” and pre date the require

Unbelievable it looks like it would snap in half if it hit another dog in the race, a hare would probably drag it round the field and kick it off 😅

It’s also a Rch on the bends over 270yds as well as straights over 150yds in the up to 16lb class 👍

Cheers.

Prob the best viewing in coursing is a little un that got speed and can stay on they lean in like no other dog can, and yes they drop a few trying to hang on to half ther body weight going different trajectories

And it’s 1/4 greyhound !!

Others in the litter were up to 40lb 👍

Cheers.

Love that. The thing that has always fascinated me about whippets is how lads and lasses can breed so much ability into such small dogs. Never understood the modern trend with KC "field" dogs breeding them bigger and bigger. Each to their own of course but there comes a point when it aint a whippet, even if the "papers" prove otherwise.

This may seem like a strange question but have you noticed if your whippets seem to have very cold ears all the time,  mine has but I think they act like built in intercooler radiators that’s why he never pants, but he could be a freak
