It has an odd, metalic stone type smell that takes me clean back to 1976 Why 1976 in particular ? It's not like Scots are strangers to rain........ 76 was the hottest year ever. Not the genuine article any more, mate -sadly! Brussels banned coal tar some years ago, which is a shame as it was good for various nasty skin conditions, as well as smelling lovely ! When my daughter was a child we used to vapourise coal tar oil to help her asthma. What they sell these days is coal tar fragranced.
