kevin kiely 66
Do u think the collie would add to stamina on long runs more than if you had a straight sal grey ?Collies have a very good recovery rate that hopefully gets passed on. Salukis are bred for long range runs like kenyans running for water lol it not uncommon to try blend the collie grey saluki grey for a more bidable versitle dog but thats when it works out haha.. like any other cross it can also go horruble wrong I suppose in theory they should recover faster than the straight sal grey for the second and third runs during a day.would yee agree?but for the first run the sal grey would be the best choice maybe in general? Depends what you are running and where. As much as I love collie x's, a good salukixgrey hybrid will hammer it for stamina on big runs. On a Night of lamping, well thats another matter. And iMO saluki brings far more to the breeding of lurchers than stamina 3 Quote Link to post

jake824 517
Is it not possible to combine these breeds to get the attributes you want in an all-round lurcher? does nt quite work like that bud wish it was. We tried a few times but they were nt up to much. The collie x bitch was top notch at her job and the bull x was pure drive and determination but the offspring were neither of the two. It seemed to dilute the gameness they were selecting holds and holding back . And they were a bit heavy to run small game . Not for me I'm afraidThats only one litter tho. I just put that down to failed attempt. Not something to base a whole opinion on a x. Maybe the two bloods from them lines didnt work out. Not all dogs are producers. Loads to take into account. Seen plenty collie/bull/greys knock all game overim not basing on the one mating bud we did a lot more than that and from dam good dogs.im not saying they were useless cos they were nt .But they did nt combine the roles of each parent and after a couple of seasons were being selective on taking holds where there was risk of getting a nip.No doubt there's plenty u know of that are doing the job but the numerous I witnessed work did nt impress. kevin kiely 66
I have a collie cross and had a collie cross that ran well on them but if u were to get one for hares only and lamping only ud be better with the sal grey for hare and collie grey for rabbits IMO Quote Link to post
