Merc Vito Van

Recommended Posts

I have a 53 plate vito, the engine is immaculate but the paint work on them is horrendous, engine on 109 are shite and lack power, 111 CDI engine is sound, poor electrics on them and parts cost a fortune when needed...

Bought mine at start of summer, had 6 months and have tried selling it at back end of summer with 12 month mot and service but no joy... I'll be waiting til start of summer to try and sell again...

Honestly gutted I bought it, like a daft twat I px'd my citroen berlingo 1.6 hdi van in for it and regret it so much....

My advice would be to stay away mate...

Got to agree with zandy, I had one too, engine was spot on,.... Rust bucket, electric windows always going, side door always coming off track, couldn't handle any form of slippery surface, slight snow or heavy rain and would just wheel spin....

Merc vans have always rusted, especially on the lower doors and above the screens......engine wise, they can't be beaten full stop !!

2 or 3 hundred thousand and they will still be chugging on if you keep them serviced.

My old sprinter had 450,000 on the clock when they nicked it........Vito had 200k and my current sprinter has 300,000

Vito vans have a common fault with the injectors whereby they "weld" themselves to the Ali engine block but if you keep on it then you shouldn't have a problem.......no one ever spends the money up front mind you, they get a kick and cry later down the line

A merc will easily see all the vauxhalls, renaults and Citroens into the ground 3 times over.

No dramas ;)

Had a vito, absolute rust bucket, but it was one hell of a workhorse, it carried some gear on the roof and inside and the engine never let me down..

2 sprinters running now, again they get some graft, had a few issues with one them..

But my old vito, was pink ( originally red) and rusted out, but still ran like a dream when I got rid.

8 years with the same Sprinter,in all that time it had a clutch ,tyres and brakes done.....bomb proof

I had 8 years and 45,0000 out of my t4 2.4 non turbo .only thing really was set of tyres ,exhaust ,brake calliper and a starter ,no clutch needed.though I think it was low ,when I sold it.

If Sprinters are still regarded as a top van today then they have certainly stood the test of time.....i had a yard of vans nearly 15 years ago selling 3 Sprinters to every 1 Renault/Tranny/Citreon etc.....best large van ever made in my opinion.
