walshie 2,804
I've got a few companies I do contract work for and I normally do a few weeks here, and a few weeks there. The company I'm working at at the moment is my least favourite. I don't like their work ethic or the people there particularly. I started there a couple of weeks ago (it's the 4th stint I've done for them) and it was supposed to be one week. Then it changed to two. Now I'm on my third week there. Friday, the boss took me to one side and asked if I'd work there till the end of October. I said that was fine. Then he asked if I'd work there till next Summer as he had a few new things going on. I said I'd think about it over the weekend and let him know today. I decided if I was going to work there for that long, I'd really up my rate so if he agreed, I'd at least get a really good wage out of it. This morning, I gave him my new price, quoting way over what I thought he'd pay, thinking he'd negotiate me down a bit or refuse, but he just agreed on the spot. He's also paying me 22 days holiday pro-rata and Bank Holidays. Now I feel gutted that firstly I should have asked for even more money and secondly I'm going to be stuck in a job I'm not keen on for a few months. I know it's better than the alternative of no work, but I've got that nagging feeling inside now.

Do you not think thats your subconscious f****n with you ?.................If you didnt want the work you would of quoted him an unrealistic figure.......the fact you quoted him something he agreed to suggest you might need the work more than you care to admit ?

I always need work. Why wouldn't I admit that? But I normally tick over by doing a few weeks for various different companies. I didn't try to price myself out of the job, just make it worth my while staying there. I'm glad he wanted to pay it, but I'm a bit annoyed at myself there was no haggling.

Maybe admit was the wrong word.............................what i meant was sometimes our subconscious makes the decisions for us no matter how much we question it after.
