keepdiggin 9,566
If your kids got a bit of common sense he\she knows its just a game and wont go and murder\rape & rob people, I'm sure some people will condemn games like this but will happily watch a 18 and over film with their kids.
johnny boy68 11,726
If any parent lets there 12 yo watch or play 18 rated films/games then they need to take a look at themselves !!
walshie 2,804
There's plenty of games a youngster can play on his PS/Xbox/whatever that ARE suited to his or her age group - that's why they make them.
STRANGER 948
Never played video games for donkeys years, but if the new grand theft auto is anything like the first one, its definitely NOT suitable for kids. No one is saying that playing these games will turn them into mass murderers, that's stupid. But it will desensitise them to these sorts of things far too young. The one I played you could pay hookers for a f**k, then once they get out the car, smash their head in and steal your money back brilliant for 10 year olds! Once they turn 15/16.17 etc they are not stupid and will probably have seen worse from friends etc but to expose kids to this level of violence knowingly is thoroughly irresponsible. scothunter 12,609
The word "GAME" says it all really. millions of kids/adults play these games. The majority dont go on kill crazy rampages, but a few do,and prob the games you get were influence.however they are obviously loonies anyway and would have killed anyway. Also the vast majority of serious gamers even 12 year olds are going to play these games either at there mates or on the fly.personally i think kids these days are far more mature and clued up for there age than we ever were.guess thats not a bad thing either, with the amount of sick c**ts out there stalking kids.on the flip side these games in a way can be educational.granted these games are extreme but certainly not showing anything that does not happen in real life,f**k even the games for minors can be pretty violent.cartoons were always violent and lets not even get on to family guy and suchlike.its all around us and you should give your kids more credit for being able to tell the diffrence between the two. When you have kids you get a grasp of there mentallity, some kids are naturally more mature than others and you as a parent use your own judgement.

The Seeker 3,048
Unfortunately this is far too often the norm now days, my eldest is 11, he has an Xbox but he's never been addicted, in the past he has asked if he can have a few tasty games but my answer has always been NO. "But Sam has got it" my reply is "well go and live with Sam's parents then if your so hard done to" To be honest he hardly ever turns the thing on these days he's taken up kick boxing, is learning guitar and loves it. Same with movies no way is he watching an 18 rated movie, I might let him watch a 15 if Im with him but I make that choice as a parent as to the degree of how much swearing/violence is in it. For some reason I find a lot of parents seem to want their children to grow up far too early, Ive told my lad he's not having a mobile phone until he's at least 13 his best mate who is the same age has had one at the age of 7 I just don't get it I want both my children to have a childhood heaven knows we grow up quickly enough. Seems I went to bed one night as a kid and woke up with kids a job i dislike and a feckin mortgage round my neck
RubyTex 1,957
My parents got me an xbox when i was 13 with Halo, then Grand Theft Auto and various 16+ 18+ games, Call of Duty etc, my dad saw me playing GTA one day and said be careful lol. I used to play these games for hours on end and being exposed to that kind of stuff never did me any harm....plus i've lived my life in the real world, drinking, womanising, shooting, fishing, driving etc... I can't have a bad word to say about the games, the 'real world' is a nasty place anyway
