Religious People Less Intelligent

Recommended Posts

Are religion and spirituality the same thing though? :hmm:

I know the dictionary definiton intertwines the two but surely it must be possible to believe in higher forces without necessarily being confined to a particular religion?

Religion, to me, is where man has decided to regiment spirituality. Where he has decided to outline the rules and regulations within. This, at least to me, is where the problem lies. I have no issue with what people believe. What they do, or who they pray to. Providing it's all between consenting adults. I don't believe for a moment that any just God, Allah, Buddha, Jehovah, would want war to be waged in their name. I just think it's bullshit. The cornerstone of these prophets is pretty much love thy neighbour, and that anything else added, or subtracted, along the way is the will of no one other than the person writing it down.

To those that claim there is no higher power, how do you know? To those that claim we were created in his image, how do you know?

I guess I want both sides to show their working out in the margin...

Interesting one this   Having been brought up as religous, I have an inherant distrust of anyone who believes in god.   I can never fully understand why anyone with any intelligence could believe

Islam.   Case rested.

The faith that atheist have is amazing, far more than us simple Christians. To be able to believe we came from fish. Our bodies are made up of 10 trillion cells, that all just somehow aligned themselv

You're right there isn't anything new to say. None of these religions have come up with anything new in centuries.

A while back we'd have been crucified for saying this.

A few thousand miles east and we will be beheaded for it.

Anything that ridiculous is sure worthy of it.

I'm not in a religion.

I do not believe, or worship, a supreme deity. Atheism is the absense of theism.

I'm agnostic, in the traditional sense. I simply don't know. I am willing to change that belief based on hard evidence, supported by scientific method.

I do know that the word written by man is not to be trusted.

If you sincerely believe that consumerism is the new religion then how is your faith tested knowing you serve two masters?

I'm not devoted to anything. I simply don't believe... You asked me to clarify my position. I did.

It's a pretty simple concept.

If I had a religion, in your dictionary defined copy and paste, it would be...

truth
noun \ˈtrüth\

the truth : the real facts about something : the things that are true

: the quality or state of being true

: a statement or idea that is true or accepted as true
