whippet 99 2,613
potentially another thread of football fanatics versus people with no respect for the man no more,.........yeah good player in his day but his legend status has drowned on his self inflicted disease........I got no time for him and when you witness people like this wasteing there life when there are plenty who don't get a life it makes me blood boil....... and all that disease bull shite ,..........it aint a natural disease its self inflicted some don't have chances or choices and because he was good at his job I think hes had enough of the special treatment and for all I care let the fooker drink his self to death ,...........he had everything on a plate and still chose his way.....
walshie 2,804
I've never understood the pity handed out to this bloke. He was good when he was a player, but now he's just an alkie like all the other thousands of alkies round the country.
Lab 10,979
Defo' soon the drink will kill him......always thought he was a funny man, great talent.....obviously he a wee brain fart in going to play for the Huns... To be fair i'm fed up hearing about him getting pished and making a fool of himself only in a few months to appear on some chat show to say he is been off the drink and in recovery...what a load of shite....just using the appearence money to get blootered. Think he was hoping to get on one of these reality tv shows soon.......looks like he's f****d that up then.
baw 4,360
I think if your a footballer and like to socialize it would be very difficult not to become an alcoholic. Everywhere you went people falling over themselves to buy you a drink. So I have some sympathy for him. There is probably loads of sportsmen in the same boat we never hear off but gazza fills papers front and back. Do I care if he dies, not a jot but I do think the hangers on he thought were buddies should be helping him more.
nothernlite 18,260
on you go gazza
RubyTex 1,957
Didn't a bunch of his sporting mates stump up a load of cash for rehab not long ago? He's had chance after chance after chance, people have supported him financially and given him a shoulder to cry on, taken him out for dinner, golf etc but he still falls back into the trap. There's only so much other people can do, the rest is down to him!! He's a nice guy, met him a few years back, but enough is enough.

Nik_B 3,791
I've never understood the pity handed out to this bloke. He was good when he was a player, but now he's just an alkie like all the other thousands of alkies round the country. especially on THL where most members would throw druggies on a large fire On a slightly different note I hate the way alcoholism is made out to be a disease, its placing the fault away from the drug itself. Alcohol is highly addictive just like cocaine.

sikastag_1 689
Legend, I had that poster on the side of my wardrobe growing up northernlite lol, the good old days. Shame the way he went he just couldn't let go of football. Lost a lot in his life some through bad moves by himself and like a lot he turned to drink. He's not going to pull himself together now he's been to rehab etc and still went back on it told him hel die he still went back on it, shame but only he can help his self and its probably too far gone inside him now.
