I don't know exactly what do you mean by "mix", it means to bite ? If it means to bite, they are more barkers than mixers. Betty, the left one on the pic, is my best jack (10 badgers in 5 hunts this

We don't need fighting dogs, I don't want it.

Courageous yes, steady worker yes, fighter no.

I hunt badger, some places are hard to dig. Some hunts need 3 or 4 hours, few times more. Dog has to be able to bark near the badger for a long time.

Blaise are there many lads out there without the neccessary permits etc who dig badgers?

Cheers, D.

May be, but you risk big problems. I think most of us have the licenses.
In a team, only the master need licenses.

Is a license hard to get and what requirements do you need to meet to get one?

I love how the sport is conducted in France

Yes It's quite hard if you want to become a Master of a team (Maître d'équipage).
You have to prove your personal abilities (hunting experiences), abilities of our lads, abilities of your dogs (minimum 3 dogs breed teckel or terrier). In fact, each new master has been hunting before in another team. You can't begin without experiences.
You need a french hunting license (there's an exam like driving license).
Your dogs, tools and kennel are controled.
To have a license in order to hunt badgers, you need with 3 agrements :
- Association Francaise des équipages de venerie sous terre concerning abilities,
- Fédération départementale des chasseurs (hunting local organization),
- Rural administration.
This license is delivered for one year the first time, 5 years more if every thing is OK, 6 years later.
If you can't reach all this requirements, you can still hunt. You have to join another team as a member, you hunt under the authority of a Master.
We are 10,000 terriermen in France, 1,500 are Master.
