walshie 2,804
I got something in my eye on Sunday, rubbed it and then it felt O.K. When I got into bed, it started watering and I bathed it and it felt O.K again. Monday felt O.K right up till bedtime, so did yesterday. When I got up this morning it had swollen up and nearly closed. I took myself off to the eye hospital as it was blurry and after waiting 2 hours, I was told to come back in an hour as the Doctor was "having her lunch." A 3 hour wait with no smoking in the hospital grounds gave me plenty of time to imagine the worst, like sharp instruments being rammed in my eye, but when it came down to it, it was quite easy......right up till she tried to turn my top lid inside out to have a look. I nearly puked on her and everyone in the waiting room I'm sure could hear me retching. (Bit funny about eyes.) She tried again, same result, then she looked using one of those microscope things. My heart sank when she said "Oh". She put some dye in my eye, shone a bright blue light in it then told me I had a torn cornea, but the foreign body was no longer there. And I didn't even get a "I was brave" badge or anything. I've got to take eye drops 3 times a day for 2 days and cream 5 times a day for 3 days. How the hell am i going to get that lot in my eye when it makes me feel sick just holding my eyelid?

shootlodge 148
It will be worth it, we take them for granted . try popping the drop in the corner of your eye , rather than in it .

henarchchar 64
went through a car windscreen a few year back lost most of my eyelid when they sewed it up they nipped what was left together and did best they could amazed me how they fit 12 stitches in such a small space but was amazing was how big that needle looked as it passed by the eye
littlefish 598
To put the drops in easily......lie on your back on the bed or sofa, drop the drops into the corner of your eye nearest your nose and slowly move your head from side to side - that will wash the drops over the surface of your eye. Hope you are back to normal soon.
