Yeah they were mate probably around the march april september and october time's of the year greyhound's were knocking them over before that as well it doe's not mean they were doing them in any kind of number's and 60's 50's and before etc they would of been more of a hare for the pot and there would of been no fair law etc,i am no fan of coursing dog's or saluki based lurcher's but on average they will beat a collie based dog everytime on them when it come's to a few run's

I regulalrly see Saluki x`s that do it all, time and time again, I will admit, they can suffer a bit damage wise on some of the land round here, but on the big fields, they catch it all.

 

Lurcher does not mean just Collie X, (and I have a collie X mind).

 

My preference is for the dog I`ve got at the minute.

I like saluki Xs as a good allrounder, especially where I live. Even when lamping, long slips are the norm and they seem to eat up the ground like no other. I like their high prey drive which probally comes from a saluki been a hunting dog, as apososed to collies which are not.

Ive owned several Saluki bred lurchers,on open land behind an hare they have few equals,a 3/4 Grey-1/4 Border i also owned accounted for more Hares over its hunting life,it caught on open land,small fields,moors,over,under and around obstacles,plough,short grass,wooded areas and anywhere else an Hare could be found.If you want a dog to run on open land,where the mutt does,nt need to use to much brain power,get a Saluki type,if you want a dog that can think on its feet,use its nose,adapt to any given scenario,multi-task and come back without to much prompting,get a Collie based mutt.There are and always will be exceptions to the rule,but not many.

not all saluki xs are for the fens they can be bred into lines of colliex and bullx to make good all round hunting dogs.. if colliexs wer the be all and end all we would all have them..

imo not just stamia, feet,wind, the saluki x can add a different style to the way they run, people dont give credit that a saluki x can add that bit of running sence [read there game well ]
