They are not parasites because the vast majority would keep them given a national vote.

The lads have served there country and laid there life on the line, I'd be proud to have them as my sons.

After the years of Labour scum trying to destroy any national identity we have left, the royal family are one of the few things holding us together.

f**k the pampered socialist public sector, it's time to join the real world.

Firstly, most teachers on strike will not get payed for today.

Secondly, we would not have this problem if labour had not plundered the pension funds.

Thirdly, they do one of the hardest and most important jobs, for what is realistically fairly crap pay, and get very little respect.

I'm sure all of the folk running their mouths off on here have some experience of doing that kind of job?

And feckin rightly so.......why should they get paid they cost people money by taking strike action.

If you had been doing a job for say 20/30 years, and every month and year, you payed money from your wages into a pot, and were told that at the end you would get a good chunk of it back as a pension when you retired at a certain age. And then after a long career, were told, actually we spent the money you gave us, so it aint there, and you aint getting it, oh and you need to work for 8 more years to not get it. . . . .

You'd be a little f****d off no??? In my opinion we should stick together in the face of the government trying to f**k us over.

Also one more point - it was only one (or two) unions that were on strike, a lot of teachers were not, but the schools were closed anyway, so they were not in.

And they didn't get payed if they didn't come in.

I didn't say they should, i was just giving the facts in the face of claims that the tax payer was going to have to pay them a days wages for not working. . . . .

By the way mate, i went into school to work.

If todays lazy parents taught their children a healthy respectful authority, teaches wouldn't be going off with stress.

You can't change the goal posts half way through someones working life, expecting them to work 5 more years, and pay double into their pension to get a decent return.

Yes they get very good holidays, but their pay is poor for the amount of work they do.

Ever been unemployed? The lass behind the counter at the Job Centre is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!!! She tries to help you find a job that will suit you, tells you about training, does all she can to help. She's on minimum wage. You slag her off, walk out and get mugged for your dole money. The copper who gets called out is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!! You have been injured, someone dials 999. The operator is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!! The ambulance crew are - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANTS!!!!! While you are in hospital, where the nurses are - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANTS - your mate back from Afghanistan calls to see you. He is, of course, a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!! Just back from his latest tour, he has been told that as of now he is redundant and will only get the minimum payout, and his pension will be 10% of what he was promised when he signed up.

Yeah, f**k the public servants.

There's no doubt a lot of public sector workers do a good job and not always for great money and I don't think it should come down to public versus private as they very often feed off each other.

However the private sector workers pension is also in many cases buggered and they too will have to work longer, the friction is caused by the fact labour cosied up and massively over inflated the public side of things, flexi hours, shorter week, earlier retirement etc and expected the private sector to foot the bill( as the public side generates little or no wealth) whilst paying more and working longer themselves.

Its the ordinary working bloke that pays for the gold plated work/penshion package these people all enjoy while all the while trying to pay for the 13 year spending binge their trade union mates the Labour party indulged in.

All these union folk should be shot as traitors to the country and start again with folks who actually want to go to work and need a job!

Perhaps it's us who should be on the streets then ?

I may feel a little more sympathetic if it weren't for the very generous wages and pay increase received by Christine Blower. Am sure out of her £140,000 per annum she isn't feeling a chill from her pension!

I could argue with some of that, but mostly I agree. Still, let's not allow the Tories to set decent working folk in private or public sectors at each other's throats while the bankers who finance the Tory party pay themselves - this year - 1.8 billion pounds. Yup, that's billion.

I am sure they could sort out a scheme where they see out there last years in a less stressful job with the public sector.

You have to realise that if someone retires at 50, as things are going they could well make 90 years old.

Without even taking inflation into account it would require a £600,000 pension pot, which I know full well teachers contributions will not meet.
