birddog 1,354
I've always gone for the bullx grey but very small type one of my bitches I bred is 20 tts she is 5 soon I've been thinking of using one of these non peds in my line for ages but after reading this thread I think I'm convinced . i dont think youll be dissapointed, whipxgrey has loadsa experience here his paddy bred by so what on here has been to lots of lurchers from wee beddy whippets thru saluki crosses and up to pure deerhounds incuding bull terriers and bull crosses. i'm sure if you pm'ed him he'd give you genuine advice. he follows the progress of the litters as much as possible and i know some of the pups are performing REALLY well. 1 Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,236
So did we find out the fastest whippet or not lol is there a hall of fame for these dogs a sort of fastest of all time I don't think there is a Hall of Fame thing for Whippets, that includes the fastest times. I would think the fastest at the moment is a dog called Loves Lockdown, which is breaking Greyhound track records on the bends, not sure how it does on the 150 yards straight track, though. It's a big dog, and some people might not class it as a "Whippet", but if the BWRA doe's, then it's their rules, and that's what counts ! Cheers.hi there charps there was a hall of fame for whipps good as gold 4star hf suprch nch IBM5stars hf sup rch nch mr ben 4shf suprch nch sing on 3shf just a few i can remember great thread keep it cming fellas.atb bunnys. cocker 2,655
the national whippet coursing club hall of fame, is for kc reg pedigree coursing whippets, which coursed under national coursing club rules, before 2005, the meetings were held by whippet coursing clubs, (must be kc reg and ped) 1 Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,236
hi there cocker i know of the peds hf but the non peds als held these on the track ,i have in front of me a five gen ped igree of the non ped type mr ben 22ilb blue 4stars hf sur nch ibm was 18ilb 5sarshf now i no these dogs were light ,but i watched these dogs run and they were non ped dogs inthe ancestors rch wishewas rhinegold belco who was bilko x sheena actually one of ours ,.I NEVER HAD THE DEDICATION HAS MY LATE FARTHER RIP OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS ,i prefersd to run live game with them . good has gold was also top stud 4yrs on the bounce the only ped dog in this line and many others was blue peter ,who was owned by joe mathers from stockport ,and like myself he liked to breed the goldie mules also . I can only think the reason they were highlited in this way was these four dogs were totally a clas above the rest of the great dogs there was about at the time . i can only say what i have in front of me ,and these wer from the times when the whipps to me were the very best , atb bunnys. 1 Quote Link to post

cocker 2,655
hi bob he wasn't a laguna, he was just a mix of many different ped whippets, some from know lines and some unknown whippets Quote Link to post
whip x grey 276
i dont think he,s on whippet archives cocker he would have been ,s 90,s ,,,,,i think he was 26/27lb but had to run 28lb class,,,and still won supreme,,,iam sure his name was bandit,,,use to read him all the time,,,fawn dog another was a ped who was inported to canada ( snapper) pardee phoneix lines,,,,,,this dog kick ass with most sighthound lure coursing in his country,,,,,but these were diffrent times,,,,,i hope the peds get back on track,,,,and not too much show,,,,,i like the scottish ped club at momment ,,,,,,as there into dogs abbilitie and show its the peddlars in whippets ,,,only for the coin,,,as they look bonny and arvistise to anyone,as they are an easy breed to home as they have a soft temperment,,there,s still good ones out there, barr sooty or laguna,,plls just have to look there not for me as i like faster type,s the hare catchers if ya like,,,,,but i do like the peds,,,but dont put them on a back end season daytime hare,,,,,but they are without doubt ,,,good lamping /daytime rabbit /rat dog,,,and once in blue moon the odd hare,,,but doubtfull daytime,,,even at there coursing club events Edited November 25, 2011 by whip x grey Quote Link to post
chartpolski 27,940
I think the only Pedigree Whippet to ever win R.ch's at both WCRA and BWRA, was Mystic Pepe, an outstanding Ped, who was Laguna bred, from coursing stock. The difference in speed these days means a Ped would have no chance at gaining a Non-Ped R.ch now, but he must of been some dog in his day ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
sowhat 1,572
eddy morris me mate how owned marrilion . that dog has never been beating to this date for records , that dog lined some bitchs up and down the country had a pup out of him 15 year ago Marrilion came out of Country Music 31/32lbs my mates dog from Tiverton Vern & Joyce Hutchins, he was like shit off a shovel, me & Phil Lloyd used him to our bitches in the 80s Quote Link to post
sowhat 1,572
Theirs a lad who is very big on the racing scene from chesterfield way who has some good types of this dog and hes been at it a long time i think he used to rum the nlrc at one bit.this would be jc with sugar fire 23inch 36pound three quarter bwhipp on quarter grey open class i think both bends and straights won numerious opens and also a good producerstrong powerfull dog .atb bunnys. Hi there Bunnys & poacher 3161 only just seen your posts, jc is a good mate of mine Jim Clark we're both from the Chesterfield area, I was in the lurcher racing for alot of years & I can't remember Jim racing is dog (Sugar Fire) 35lb or any of his other dogs ever racing in the lurcher racing, but he raced them like you've stated in the non-peds & also against greyhounds on the flapping tracks winning quite afew racers, I've used the dog myself over a couple of bitches & prodused some flying machines ie Sugar Daddy Pennysworth & his off springs continue's to have his racing speed today ie my 2 bitch out of our( Pennysworth ) have both won titles ie ( Pennywhistle 32lb ) & litter sister ( Pennysdropped 33/34 lb ) also my mates bitch out of this litter ( Worth It ) as won titles aswell, there was only 4 pups in this litter so I was well pleased, I wanted early pace, & got it lol. Regarding your post poacher 3161, its probably me your thinking of regarding a lurcher racer from Chesterfield racing with the nlrc I've won more finals at the nlrc champs held at Chatsworth both days than anyone else including their finals held at Coventry, Oswestry in fact at Oswestry all 3 racing classes ie un 21" un 23" & over 23" all belonged to me but gave my mate's the un 21" winner Bonnie & the over 23" winner Lady & I raced & won the un23" winner Sally a collie x greyhound, sorry for the esay & blowing my trumphet lol Quote Link to post

sowhat 1,572
It would have been interesting to see what our Penny would have produced if I'd put a 3/4 saluki 1/4 greyhound over her. Quote Link to post
