  1. Or you could look at the HW break barrel range which would give you a choice from light full power all the way past the hw 95 to the big hw . Check them out and handle them. good luck.
  2. I was told that they were not that quiet but I like the look. I would have to use a silencer if I wanted to hunt with it. Has any one got a second hand one that they never sold with there rifle ?
  3. Has anyone got or used one of these rifles with a moderator and dose it tame it down the same as the regular models ? I have noticed there is a dedicated mod for this one and also noticed an adapter to fit a standard moderator. Not sure if there are any slip overs that clamp with allen studs.
  4. I went in the barn again tonight after work and I was warm and well wrapped up and totally chilled out and did not have to rush some practice shots in then have to pick someone up at a set time. I tried the trigger on a box I put down range then I played with it a bit one way and then back the other and then I put it back to the original place. This is a SFS rifle that has been used by a HFT guy and the scope and trigger on this one of all my rifles is set up the best of what I have. I have had a think about the feed back and I think I was a bit rough plugging too many shots through the same
  5. Good point zim Your dog is laughing at me again even she knows the safety would be on LOL.
  6. 3 in the bag can't be bad. I like that camo cover on the mod, that will save some scratching. I will have to track one down.
  7. Mac you beat me to it but spot on advice. Quarter turns till you find your shot is corresponding to a light pressure on the trigger. Some years ago I spent a whole day shooting my HW80 with the trigger set from its hardest setting fully to right and watched how drastically the shot was affected and corrected turning the adjustmer screw to left all the way till the pressure was so light the rifle could be fired pointing upward when the trigger was released by pressing the safety catch button and the weight of the trigger alone was enought to fire the action. Not a thing to do unless yo
  8. Yes Rez I am not complaining I am just trying to improve and thought I would just have a chit chat about it. I know there are some good shooters on here and no mater how good I get to grips with it all I will never be to proud to ask the question. Cold Rez that about sums it up but I feel lucky to have the long shed to shoot in. There is a log burner in there and the farm fitter leaves it on some times which just takes the edge off it when he has been in there all day. To be fair man, I didn't fully read your OP. Briefly skimmed it like. So don't know what I might of said that could be
  9. Now then Rez I was looking at your team line up which looks similar to my team set up. So where dose the gas ram rifle fit into the team, just wondered as I don't know much about the way the gas rams shoot. I am just missing a light break barrel at the moment.
  10. Looks like you are pulling to the left LOL.
  11. Hello John I should of said it's a Hawke but it looks just like that link picture. I looked at images of Hawkes and can't see this one. It seems good quality to use, the guy was a target shooter and loved the scope but could not take it with him as he was moving abroard.

  13. I have not moved the settings on this scope as it was set up by the last owner who was a HFT target shooter not a hunter. The barn is 30 meters long and when I have my back against the back wall it is 3 in the centre of the bull first 2 pellet on pellet and the next one half a 177 pellet off but that's me not the rifle. I moved forward to 26 mertres and it's the same . I set a plastic tub filled with sand at about 15 mtrs and it's spot on so I have not altered it. When I drift to the left it's when I am standing in a cold shed after work and I am just plugging away say 40 50 shots one afte
  14. I can't get in the fields because of all the pheasants that have been put down the 3 keepers and the owner are protective at this time of year and the last thing I want to do is upset them. That leaves me the barns which still have a fair amount of grain in them but will be empty soon. I do have a 30 meter shed with lights which gets me out of the wind and rain. I am chilling out as well, just done 6 days and need one day off. I am a carpenter/joiner/builder so will be out in it tomorrow. Chilling out with a Fosters and looking at scopes. Happy days.
  15. I got a scope with a rifle as you do. I have just had a look around it to see what model it is. There is some black gloss writing on the matte black coating which I had missed when I first looked on the under side of the scope. It says VAR624x42 MADE IN CHINA JS.2002.01. It is an AO and is 400mm long and has a mill dot ret. Any good ? any info would be good. Cheers
  16. I get RWS from a local shop. RWS super dome .177....£5.30 for 500. RWS super dome .22....£7.50 for 500.
  17. Thanks for all the replies, it has given me some things to think about. Things that I thought are:- - when I am plugging I rush the shot. - I have not got to grips with the scope, it's a big long Hawke 400mm long and it's 6-24x50 AO there is a logo on the left side of the tube that looks like a rat coming out of a hole with cross hairs on it. He said he had it a long time and liked it and moved it from all the rifles he had owned. It feels like it is a good scope but I have been used too 3-9x40 short hunters ?. - I will fit a shorter scope and shoulder to eye a bit better, it's not set up
  18. I will try that as I have not really got to grips with it. The scope was se up by the guy I got the rifle off and he was a HFT lad. I sat it on a rest and concentrated hard and all three shots were pellet on pellet so I have just left it. I think I have just been plugging away at the same target about 30 or 40 shots and I think it has shown up a bad habit. Could well be trigger and the way I view through the scope. cheers.
  19. Thanks guys I know its me I just did not know that I was doing wrong. The rifle is far better than I am, it's a SFS hw98. I thought it was better to ask than just keep plugging on. I got it off a guy from York who was leaving England to live in Spain and he used it for HFT ( it's a this years rifle and was lucky to find it) I had to have it as I had just fitted my mate up with my new just run in hw95 just to get him away in the sport because he was dithering around with no real time to find what he wanted so the lazy bugger let me do all the hard work, he is a very good mate and I wanted him
  20. I went in the shed with lights after work on Saturday afternoon an put a target up at about 26 metres. I have noticed people saying one pellet is ok, two pellets is luck but three pellets in the bull is fact. Thing is its a pain to keep changing the target so I just kept going with the same card about 30 pellets and it drilled a hole in the bull as it would. When I went down to get the target I notice that I had drilled the left side of the bull. I seem to pull to the left even though the rifle is zeroed, is that normal. I was a left hander at small school but they changed me to right ha
  21. Hello zim Love it when a plan comes together, great rifle. I use that Napier of London airgun spray after use in the damp this time of year, keep on top of it from the start and it won't rust. Try to find things to lean against, tree or fence post as they are heavy unsupported. I keep mine in my office, I was at a mates house yesterday afternoon and we got talking about air rifle and he said he still had one in the garage so I said lets be having a look. It was just sitting on two nails in the rafters and when he lifted it down there was some rust starting to come through the blueing.
  22. I have zeroed the HW100 kt .22 today at dinner time and I am very pleased with the rifle. I noticed that the .22 mags had two small o rings around them and my .177 has one thicker one, is that because of the difference in pellet sizes ? The 100kt is almost silent compared to the .177 FSB but both of them shoot sweet as a nut.
  23. LOL I can miss the point sometimes. When I was looking to get back into it I was not taking into account the passage of time. What I mean by that is I used a .22 bsa back in the day. I went ahead and got a hw77 in .22 and am very pleased with it and it's a life long keeper. Thing is that I have got up to speed with what is what through this forum the internet, utube, practice and shooting with other people and using lots of different rifles and now for me I can make informed choices with ease. The 22 and 177 thing rests easy with me but will stay as the most contested subject on forums. I wa
  24. Hello Zim I always keep hold of the under lever on my 77 and on my mates 97 it's just a good practice and it's not hard to do. Have you tried the Walther LGU and LGV in .22
