Strange that this topic has opened as I , and a friend, were driving along and lo and behold , there were catkins on some willow trees. Now that is early. Jok.

Eh up Bird, if I knew where you are I'd bring some with pleasure. There's one or two on here who have sampled my wares so to speak. Staffs/Derbs/Leics I'm right on the boundary. There's one or two from the Black Country who also have. When they read this they'll let you know. Regards. Jok.

A few pheasant and partridge gave me these beauties. 11 game pies made with pheasant ,partridge breast along with onion, mushroom and loads of herbs and seasoning alongside some meatloaf of similar origin but including chillis, sweet pepper, tomatoes and garlic. Not a bad result for next to nowt. Jok.

I get the feeling that the sheath was made quite a bit later than the blade.the top one looks like Howill & Son , Sheffield which is an usual name so might yield results on a search. The middle one reminds me of a Bowie I had as a teenager but only because of the brass and leather work. There are a few guys on here who I am sure will be in touch soon. Jok.

I guess you've googled McLaren & Son, Sheffield on or about he date on the blade. Looks very military'ish to me. Jok.

Well geezers, I've been a bit quiet for a while regarding food . Just thought I'd share a little gem. The allotment, I'll admit has not been the best this year. However, you make the most of what you get. One of the best was my beetroot which did extremely well. Another was the chillis which were under glass. Now, thinking outside the normal I thought what a marriage that could be. I had my usual faggot mix (fry) together with onion, sage, salt and pepper, mixed with breadcrumbs and about 7 chillis and a quite large beetroot all blended. This is, quite literally, a fantastic dish. Whilst it wa

Yes pal. Each blade is very sharp and extremely functional. Handy for any game but particularly deer. You may have noticed that is a Buck sheath as the original Boker was a cavass thing and didn't stand the test of time. Jok.

SamR. You have a lovely thing there pal. Did you get the detachable one with different blades? It looks like mine .

Blooming lovely. Nice work. Interesting to find someone with knowledge of bog oak. Slightly off tangent, my good friend Tony Glover, snooker cue King (in my opinion) were rattling on about making a one off cue using either brown or black bog oak. Just thought I'd mention it. Jok.

Mad isn't it. The number of knives available when to be honest, a simple, sharp, little kitchen utility knife is more than adequate. Personally, I have a Boker for the purpose which cost quite a bit of money but that was only when I was doing a hell of a lot, both rabbits and large stuff. If, in my opinion, you have the ability to keep a keen edge, then any little knife is good. When all's said and done, gutting a rabbit is not exactly a hard job. As you may have noticed, there are a couple of guys on here who make the most amazing creations and I would highly recommend their work. Jok.

Mate, these guys are good. Www.caltefdesigns.com. I hope this info helps . Jok.

JJM. It's not happening mate but I had to give it a try. As luck would have it, I've dropped on. We have just bought a memory tree for the nursing home which to be honest is absolutely beautiful. The guys who made it also do bespoke ,plasma cut, wood and metal. They have a router table which takes 8 X 4 sheets and as it's programmed, can turn out virtually anything. Today I looked at all their shooting related articles which are awesome. Typically, Wellington boot racks, coat racks, memory benches for the no longer with us and many more. They are only a small family unit but the stuff they tu

Guys. I'm sure you will agree that when the weather closes in then there won't be any shooting anyway. It sounds like our man has only this one splash so is trying his very best to get results. Obviously, we as readers, have no idea what other wet areas are around this area which possibly means that there are other people feeding similarly. Who knows, in this day and age, there could be feeing going on simply to give a magnet to wildfowl without any shooting going on. All I can say is that , from experience, persevere with the feeding, and as Rabid says, feed only when you are fairly sure that

Simply go to your supplier, give them the measurements and they'll give you the appropriate blocks. Simple.

Might be of help. I hope so anyway. Have a look at Fishtec on line. They have got everything and at the right money. Their service is enviable . Very good people. Jok.

Oh dear oh dear. Looking at that pic is just horrible. Not at all being condescding but if you want to go for fly fishing in the proper way, then use a proper fly rod. That thing is more a pier rod. Just my. Opinion of course.jok.

At some point in my past, someone said , why don 't you write a book. This would definitely have a chapter or two on trout fishing .i was born and raised in Melrose, on the river Tweed. Later in life we moved to Gattonside and at the time there was an epidemic among the salmon coming up river. Cutting a long story short I was asked to help removing diseased fish from the river. After that I had pretty much free fishing.. The river Tweed is a slowish meandering type of river so you get the best of all worlds. Salmon, trout and a good head of greyling. A gentleman who I met on the bank, Jimmy Cl
