i pay £1.40 for a kilo of tripe.. I order my food from a supplier though as the butchers round her arent generous! I get loads of different variety for them. and dont mind paying what i do.
  2. i started off with feeding complete with tripe and chicken carcass. now I just feed full raw. Best results for my bitch, she looks brillaint on it.
  3. build him up gently. I run 3 times a week with my saluki x grey. run 5k with her and thats enough with the miles we walk. Going to try and do a bit of cycling with her if i can too.
  4. Oh thanks for that. Just waiting for the coop to arrive and then will look into what to get. Still got to convince nan to let me have a couple!!
  5. I'll keep an eye on this. I like teckels!
  6. interesting to see how these turn out. They'll be cracking pups!
  7. I have had my lurcher for 2 years in November. She has been a house dog, But i have had a kennel and run built for her. When i was at the OH's at the weekend i left her outside in a kennel and run with another young lurcher over night. She whined when initally shut in, but quietened down, started when it went dark but stopped again and I'm presuming obviously went to sleep. I'm thinking of keeping her outside more often as she was so much more responsive to my commands when I then had her out for a walk. She can sometimes be a bit of a prat and play the "you cant catch me" game, if she
  8. how many of you keep your terriers outside? I'd like a terrier, (my OH has 2) and his are both kenneled permenantly. Now i dont know if its the girlie side in me or the fact terriers are so small, I kind of feel sorry for them being out in the cold I suppose it doesnt help Ive only had pet dogs before i got my lurcher (shes in most of the time although does have a kennel and run) and Im used to them being in the house. I know terriers are hardy little things. But just give me some reassurance. Pictures of your set up (and lovely dogs!) would be a great help!
  9. good luck. those pups are going to be absolutely stunning! jealous!
  10. Alot had already been shot from where we were too which probably explains the lack of brids! doesnt matter though, I had a good time!
  11. welcome! im on the cheshire/staffordshire border and its a cracking place for hunting
  12. got some books from the library which have been helpful telling me what i can plant when. quite looking forward to starting it.
  13. nothing wrong with it providing you keep them separated when the bitch comes into season. We have 3 bitches and 2 dogs at ours. all entire. We just split up when in season and dont have any issues.
  14. went for the first time on saturday, I didnt shoot, it was far too windy and i figured i didnt stand a chance, so just sat and watched! loved it though! we set up all the decoys and then sat in our hide for a couple of hours. Conditions werent really right for it, but we ended up with 6 pigeons and 5 crows. the pigeon breast is now in my freezer!
  15. I've certainly got the bug anyway! going to another show tomorrow fingers crossed!
  16. i buy mine from a supplier called Manifold Valley Meats. Theyre reasonably priced and the quality is brilliant. Not many butchers here for me to use unofrtunately! I'd love to get carcasses and things cheaper.
  17. yes start straight away. I feed my pups from 6/7 weeks on chicken wings when i had my litter, and the dogs I've bought in have been on them at 8 weeks.
  18. i really like Eden dog food. its brilliant quality and is % meat and 20% fruit and veg. nothing else added.its quite pricey but if you work out how much of it you need to feed it doesnt work out that bad.
  19. I have a saluki x bull x greyhound. she is 2 and a half years now. I cant post pictures at the minute, but will when i get chance. I feed her on a full raw diet. She gets a number of different types of meats and bones. If you want some help I can help you with raw or even recommend some good quaility dry and wet foods for you?
  20. i used it on mine but then ran out. i need to get some more as i noticed a difference when my lurcher was on it.
  21. Its all down to what you can spend. There are good foods for every budget. I like Eden dog food for if I ever went back to dry food but it is pricey. obviously you dont feed as much because its pure protein, and not full of fillers. I like Arden Grange as a good dry but again a bit pricey. If you wanted a lower budget food but still good Wainwrights grain free by pets at home is brilliant.
  22. i used to mix, but dont bother any more and i dont bother with pasta or rice either. shes just on a full raw diet. It isnt bad for them to have a mix, some people say it can cause harm because of different digestion rates but i dont believe that for a second. I stopped feeding kibble because it was full of crap. after doing nutrition at college I learnt raw is really best. All 3 of my dogs are on it, and so are my two cats.
  23. I would love some chickens so I can start getting my own eggs (im trying to be more self sufficent!) What would you recommend for the first timer? I only want a couple of chickens not masses as I dont have a huge garden. Im looking at getting a moveable coop. They wont have a lot of access to grass though, does this matter if I provide fresh greens and things for them? Ive got a couple of books out from the library to help me with my research but first hand experience is always better!
