  1. Hi. I had a similar problem after changing scopes where I would zero the rifle, think I had got it sussed and then the zero would suddenly shift or on occasion it would be fine one day and miles out the next. In my case I think it was the reticle sticking slightly when I adjusted either the elevation or windage and then "jumping" as the rifle was used. I now lightly tap the turrets after each adjustment to help set the reticle and this seems to have solved the issue. Other possible causes are things like canting the rifle after you've zeroed, the zero shifting if you adjust the scope magnifica
  2. Nice shooting and congratulations on picking one of the finest rifles out there. I promise you it will provide you with many fruitful days shooting
  3. As above I generally leave anything other than the corvids on the nest. My only real exception to that is feral pigeons in sheds where I find its the best way to put a serious dent in the population.
  4. However the 40mm will likely give you a wider field of view and the ability to mount the scope lower and I have to say in my experience the 50mm only gives you a few extra minutes at dawn or dusk
  5. Air arms recommend lightly oiling the magazine o-ring in order to prevent it perishing and hence extend its lifespan. RIP
  6. The easiest way is to find an area with some cover in which to set up a hide a few days before you plan on having a session at them and bait in that location again for a few days prior. The ideal bait is something like a slit open rabbit, as per the other corvids, but I'm guessing somewhere like stables this may be frowned upon by the more squeamish that may frequent the area, as a more acceptable alternative I've being having some success with dried dog biscuits recently around the yard. As an aside has anyone else noticed an increase in jackdaw numbers this year, in the past where I shoot
  7. Glad you got it sorted, frustrating none the less. On the plus side you've got yourself a cracking rifle to play with. Only thing I would say from personal experience is give it a very good check over for loose bolts, dodgy seals etc as my first one ended up going back with a combination of faults, almost seemed like a Friday afternoon gun
  8. As above. Its worth trying giving it a sharpish (but not too sharp) tap whilst trying to zero to either Max or min elevation, if its just stuck a bit it may be enough to shock it free. Its a very long shot but if the alternative is scrapping the scope any things worth trying, nothing to lose and all the rest
  9. Hi. I would like to 3rd the hawke panorama but I'm afraid you're going to struggle to find one for less than £100 unless you go 2nd hand. To be honest if you're getting on OK with your current scope and the main issue you have with it is cosmetic I'd be inclined to say stick with it for a bit and save for something like a mamba lite when you can afford it.
  10. The slightly simplistic answer is that if you shoot on the level and you're zeroed at 30 yards your pellet travels upward in an arc crosses your zero once, potentially at 20-25 yards for example, before falling back to again meet your 30 yard zero. If you're shooting down at an angle the pellet is essentially being assisted by gravity and hence doesn't fall as rapidly and strikes above the aiming point. This effect will vary to a degree with different weights of pellets and also with differing scope heights which would possibly explain the why you .22 behaves differently. The effect of aiming
  11. Just had another look at their website, point taken, too right they're a tad on the pricey side £669 for the equivalent gun.
  12. Hi. Judging by the diagram you've linked to you need part n055 as well which as you say is presumably a nut of some description.
  13. Try ringing air arms rather than emailing, its harder for them to ignore you that way. Touch wood I haven't had to deal directly with them before but I have been told they're fairly agreeable. The phone number on the website is 01323845853, explain the problem and let them know what rfd you have dealt with and hopefully it will resolve the situation. If not cancel your order and go elsewhere. A quick check online shows that Ronnie Sunshine's has that rifle in stock and I suspect they aren't the only ones.
  14. Hi. If it seems excessively loud with the silencer fitted it may be worth checking that your breech seal isn't on its way out. If it is this can cause quite a crack even if its not noticeably affecting the rifles performance.
  15. Those pictures are worrying my credit card. That's a nice new toy.
  16. I know of at least three people who have had pistons/con rods take a short cut out of the engine with navaras and I know when I was looking for a new truck if you search for navaras on flea bay there is a hell of a market for recon engines for them. Let's just say it convinced me to buy a rodeo instead!
  17. Its actually better for the rifle if you leave it charged with air.
  18. Hi. Ive used the s400 and currently shoot with the s410 and honestly don't believe there is any difference in accuracy between the two and can't realistically see any reason why feeding pellets from a magazine in to the breech should make the rifle any less accurate than manually pushing the pellet in. Once the pellet is past the breech it sits in the same position in the same type of barrel in both rifles. If you think you need the option of single shot loading it is possible, if somewhat fiddley, to do it by hand or failing that Rowan engineering make a single shot adapter for the s410. I wa
  19. Hi. Going down to .177 won't be a problem when it comes to rabbits in fact you'll probably be amazed at what a good all round calibre it is. If you're looking at reducing the weight you have to lug about it may be worth considering going down the PCP route, once you have the charging gear set up its really not a hassle and the option of multi shot is handy when hunting. Having said that though if you're a springer fan nothing else will do.
  20. Hi. I use the standard AA silencer on my s410 .177 and even if its not necessarily the quietest on the market the impact of the pellet is significantly louder than the muzzle report.
  21. Hi. Can't speak for the other rifles but the s410 is a cracker, you say you're concerned about the low shot count, mines a .177 carbine and you easily get 60 and then some which isn't a bad nights hunting. Yes the barrels thin but its well supported by the barrel band and if you do knock it out of alignment its easy to loosen the grubs screws on the band and realign. I personally can't fault the trigger on mine but the general consensus is that they benefit from a strip down and polish of the sears which is a relatively simple job. Finally new/ 2nd hand and is the warranty worth it, if you can
  22. You do realise .22 is only 1mm greater in diameter than a .177 so there's only a 0.5mm difference between touching the brain or not between the two calibres. I know every little helps but I can't help but think the that the greater energy transfer capabilities of the .22 may be more of a significant difference. Out of choice I would go for the .22 for close up ratting but I only have a .177 and if you put the pellet in the right place, as has been said above, they ain't going any where. ☺
