  1. Just been quoted £76 by local vet for vasectomy and £42 for castration, gonna have to sort it soon as both my jills in season and i got two hobs so i'm thinking vasectomy for dad and nuts off for son!!! what do you guys think but i think the price of vasectomy has shot through the roof!!!
  2. Got my CMW in post today haven't read the full article yet but it looks ok with a step by step guide on making your own catty with some photographs etc look forward to future articles.
  3. Awesome stuff defo the way forward them mink, catch, kill then bring the quarry back to the box for you, no nets or digging, great vids mate.
  4. Not worth it mate especially if your taking dogs, if your seen digging near a badger sett, you'll be before the magistrates with dogs confiscated if your seen.
  5. Hats off to you Scottish guys...Awesome stuff....Brilliant ending..... you could just do with your money back for the dead pup and that would finish it off nicely.........
  6. Well done lads very good of you to sort this young lad out with the pup, nice to see genuine people helping each other out. ref the breeder of the other pups that died has he got his advert in the back of this months EDRD mag? If it's the same guy who advertises on preloved and pets4home (plenty of tats), ive seen a few litters advertised this year from him and i'll admit thought the dogs looked ok and i like the idea of a first x and would prob be in the market for a pup next summer. If it is him, well unfortunately it's one future customer he's lost!!
  7. Absolute Bargain!!!! I pay £6 for 10kg of carcass and £8 for 10kg of necks so you getting a belting deal there mate, don't tell too many people there be a queue outside the butchers next time you go!!!
  8. seen a litter on pets4homes both parents are hancock bred, they look a cracking litter of pups and both parents are probably worked so if your after a Hancock dog these would be ideal for someone rather than going to him direct, if i was after a new dog i'd defo look at them.
  9. Try him down a hole that 100% has a rabbit in or one you've seen a rabbit go down. It would be unusual to have a ferret that won't go down as the scent will be very fresh and strong. if you've already tried this well like you said try him working with a jill.
  10. Fxxxing ferret thieves suffered from it twice once when i was a young kid about 7yrs old my dad had just bred a litter of kits from our two workers, some twxts came and stole the parents and all the kits, still pisses me of now 33yrs later as in the 80's i was out all the time working with them ferrets and my old man, as a kid as well they were my pets that i was well into. Then few years back had some kids knock on my door when i was out asked the missus if we had any ferrets for sale, which we didn't, few days later had 2 out of the 3 i had at the time stolen, gutted as bred them myself. If
  11. Was in Scotland last week when my jill stayed down i ended up digging six holes before i found her and wasted nearly an hour, bit embarrassing when i had two guys waiting with their goshawks who i was bolting rabbits for!! it was only a little warren an all, so thought it would be ok without collar, it was a lesson learnt collar every time from now on.
  12. What an offer wish i lived near you would have been happy to help out it's getting harder for people to let you hunt on their land, hope you have a good days ferreting Freddie.
  13. Nice boxes Moxy where do you buy the carry straps from ?
  14. Great photosand a nice looking bitch, hows it bred ?
  15. How much are Hancock lurchers? there was someone on preloved other week selling one a few months old for 300 as change in circumstances forced sale blah blah blah. i personally thought this was alot to be asking for a dog you were wishing to pass on would they have paid as much as that for it in the first place ?
  16. Find a good tattooist first mate, then get a really good photo of one of your dogs then there's you tat.
  17. One of my best workers that i ever owned was an albino hob, wish i still had him but he long gone now.
  18. Keep us all updated widerunner with which dog you choose to line her.
  19. Look forward to seeing pictures once finished with ferrets in mate.
  20. nice pics [BANNED TEXT], i remember when my lurcher could leap them fences with ease, unfortunately she an old lady now.
  21. Just wondered has anybody had a pair of these and what would you rate em. just been looking on the net and they certainly look the business and are a bit cheaper than the le chameau or hunter leather lined. I can't seem to find any reviews on them, are they new out hence no reviews? I'm very tempted!! Anybody with experience of harkila boots tell me what is the sizing like ? do you need to go slightly bigger in size or are they ok? Any feedback appreciated [BANNED TEXT] i part with my hard earned cash .
  22. Longside get the tel number of the local police that cover the area where you will be out lamping and phone them, tell em the farm / land you will be on and what you will be doing. That way if anybody thinks your out poaching etc if they see your lamp shining around the fields and phone the police they will be aware that it is you and that there is no need to deploy officers cause you are there genuinely carrying out pest control. Believe me mate they will appreciate it as its saving their time in the long run, my dad does this every time he goes out on his permission just out of courtesy. if
  23. Agree with Whippet be firm when need be but a young dog shouldn't really need to be given a belting a good shout or raised voice should do the trick. A dog trained by the boot is a sure way to turn into a nervous wreck be ruined and eventually passed on. When i was alot younger and less experienced with dogs i'll admit i was more likely to lose my patience and lash out when my dog was misbehaving, but now i'm a little older and more chilled out i've never needed to hit my dogs and wouldn't really considerate it unless in extreme circumstances, I look back and understand the error of my ways. 24. Yeah defo go bigger with the Zamberlan they do 1/2 sizes i'm usually a ten and the 10 and 1/2 are perfect for me, as the going says buy cheap buy twice i think with boots you've got to bite the bullet and spend a fair bit of your hard earned cash and get a decent pair.
  25. Recently got a pair of Zamberlan Vioz GTX after reading loads of reviews as i didn't want a boot too tall and was heading towards the meindl until i compared them against these. They were pricey at £180 but they are a top boot and well worth the money i'd recommended having a look i'm well happy with mine.
