A mate of mine has been making a shelter in the woods for the last couple days with his lal lad, and today he asked me to fetch my chainsaw up to help with a couple bits of wood that were a bit much for his handsaw. I took a few pics while i was there. The porch roof isnt just water tight yet. He hasnt finnished it yet will put some pics up when he has. If anyone else has made something similiar it would be good to see your pics.

  6. I was having a ratch around one of my perms yesterday with the dogs after work, to show face more than anything the cover over where all the warrens are is still incredibly thick. There is a fair few about but they werent far from safety so they all made a quick escape. Untill i was coming along the bottom side of a plowed feild that the farmer was at the time rolling to get ready to drill latter that evening.   8. A crew cab van of some kind might be worth a look. A lad i know has a caddy maxi and it has plenty room for the wife and 2 kids with 3 lurchers in the back.
  9. Same as above i use it to skin sheep and lambs, but i use the air compressor.
  10. I got a tip from an old net maker to use your index finger to hold the knot on top of the board instead of your thumb to keep your knots from slipping down. I dont know if that makes sense to anyone but me. Its hard to explain in writing

  12. Horses for coarses i suppose i use a bivvi when there isnt any trees to hang my hammock from. Give one a try it will be the best nights sleep youve ever had.I think he means a bivvi bag as in a waterproof lightweight bag that goes over your sleeping bag so if it's warm you just sleep in the bivvi bag ....... I gathered that.
  13. no landy all i use for wood is a small hatchet and a bow saw powered by elbow grease. You wont get far in a land rover up here its rough. Im a growing lad i need all the protein i can get lol.

Ive been busy making hay and silage for the last few days, so now that its all baled, lead in and stacked i had a chance to enjoy the nice weather for a short while as it is now chucking it down as i write this. So i packed my hammock and tarp and had a wander up on to the fell into a little wood i know to spend the night. It was that warm i did away with the sleeping bag witch is a rarety in my part of the world. Couple bits of steak and a few sausages on the grill and jobs a good un.   19. Dont get me started on crag rat shit. It makes walling on the fell a dangerous job every stone you pick up your hoping there isnt a pile underneith it. The dogs roll in that as well.
  20. Could anyone enlighten me on why dogs love rolling in the stuff. The place ive been working for the last couple days is in short over run with badgers, and what a state my dogs were in by the end of the day. Out of the 6 dogs i had with me only one didnt roll in it the rest were head to toe in the stuff and my van stunk on the hour and a half journey home.
  21. Its a fact all the sheepdogs ive come across that are walleyed have been usless. Especially merles lol.
