  3. good write up fella and a nice rifle to. good shooting there i was with a mate that shoot a fox a couple of months ago with his 222 and he hit it sweet i the engine room like your shoot. and that fox ran for a good 40 to 50 yards before it just dropped dead ! he must have been high on adrenalin to. when we went over he engine room was in pieces and the damage was massive. yet its mad how they run like that when they are hit sometimes
  4. your wrong there mate that digital caller is the dogs bits. your right learn how to use your hand to call but even the best calls by your hand dont work some days. thats why by having different calls ie'' digital and mouth callers like the wam and others on the market it mices it up abit. one call mite not work one day but the next it mite be shit hot. so you can never have to many callers. and the one that he is on about is very good ive seen a friend use it and have called in lots of foxes. it has a mateing call on it to. and this brings them in if you use it at the right time of year
  5. is that in a 223 mate or a 22/250 ? 223 Jamie..CZ 527 Varmint 3800fps is some going mate thats 22/250 speeds
  6. you could try some lighter bullets in a 1 in 12 twist barrel like 40 gr. but over distance it wont be as stable as the 50gr i would just try a load of different makes and weights. pick a still day and injoy abit of target shooting
  7. . Haven't a clue really why it wouldn't do - maybe someone else can say? its to do with the thickness of the barrel mate to. ie if you have a heavy they like to keep the thread as thick as poss. i guess if they screwcut it down to 1/2inch then it takes some of the barrel strength away ? thats what i was told most 22/250 ive seen screwcut are 5/8 thread but i think it depends on what thickness the barrel is to start with
  8. go have a little look around and see what you can get. but i would go in the day and have a look to see the area better. and where you mite think the best places are over there. and get the farmer a bottle of something it go's down well and shows him that you greatfull for the permission.
  9. 10 years on bottles and fixed guns like air arms and daystate dont have to be tested
  10. what is the scope mag mate ? ie'' 3x9x40, 3.9x50 ? if it is leave it on about 5 or 6 mag and zero it in. would help if you told us the mag of it and what rifle its going on and what zero you want to set it at
  11. 11 pound here to for hornady and 12 pound for federal ammo. which i find the best
  12. i wouldnt bother with it mate. get £100 pound saved and get a 6x20x50 simmons whitetail. bargain at that price clear and a great field of view. i had one on mine for a bit and it was great. i only swapped it as i had a bushnell to use on my hmr. but as soon as i get my new rifle the simmons whitetail will be back on my hmr. and the bushnell will be on the new rifle
  13. good to see the young lad out learning to.
  14. what bottle is out of date mate ? the dive bottle you have or the buddy bottle off the rifle ! if its the one off the rifle then that hasnt got to be tested ! Jamie g I was always under the impression that the gun bottle (not resevoir) DID need testing, but I've never had a detachable bottle, but know a couple of Rapid 7 owners and at least one HAS had his gun bottles tested. Can I ask what leads you to say it doesn't! Cheers dont no really mate ive never had to have mine tested and the rapid we use to have. we had for 6 years and never has the guy in my shop charge
  15. what bottle is out of date mate ? the dive bottle you have or the buddy bottle off the rifle ! if its the one off the rifle then that hasnt got to be tested !
  16. "A good foot above it's head" What you've wrote mate is no more probable than the topic of this post.Below is a reply I got when I asked about the trajectory of a sub 12ft/lb air rifle, the answers were for 70 yards. By my calculations Tote, a medium weight .22 pellet fired from a sub 12ftlb gun would have dropped about 3 feet at 70 yds.if it was a .177 it would have still dropped about 22 inches.I cant be precise as my software only shows pellet drop to 50yds for sub 12ftlb thats some amount of hold over to hit a kill zone the size of a 10p. 36" drop at 70 yards in .22 calibre.
  17. bolt the bolt back unscrew the bottle and check the o'ring if its ripped or anything like that replace it. fill the bottle and then put it back on gun. see what its like then fella.
  18. wish ours was as quick as round your way wd. looks like its going to be at least 6 to 8 weeks! before they even look at mine
  19. your right mate thats is some going isnt it ! his 12ft air rifle is in 223 and 22/250 ranges
  20. havent got one but like what has been said try a couple of different brands as each rifle is different. saying that a couple of people i no that has 223 said they found federal ammo good
  21. big debate this. some say you cant use others rifles inless its a estate rifle. i dont see what the harm of it is really? you set the young lad up in a safe place and watch over him when shooting. what harm is that i think its good for the young lads to find out about shooting and safety. on land you have permission over is the harm hey just keep it to yourself then there is no harm done
