    i cleared a warren 2 years ago, backfilled all the holes, 2 were reopend by the next morning, rats by the looks of it, within a week all holes had been dug out and rabbits were bussy running around on the top.

    there`s been alot of talk about failed workers on other post, but what is a failed worker? with terriers is a bit simpler but with lurchers its a very grey area. lets say a lad purchased a dog to catch a spercific quarry, say a 3/4 bull whippit and then the lad discovered it wasnt up to the specific job he wanted the dog to do. he then sold the dog on, and was honest as to why he was selling it. with its new owner it then proved to be an outstanding dog on all other quarry. would this be a failed worker?? or would it be just a case that the origanal owner made the wrong choice of dog in the f

    calm down now boys its only a comercial, all this talk of breeding off the best all sounds great, but the reality is its impossible. most of the well known terrier lines are guarded like the crown jewles and unless your a member of the black hand gang youve got no chance of a mating. so the rest of us mear mortals have to use whot is available. then the strange thing is the members of the black hand gangs then accuse everybody else for breeding shite. :laugh:

    As i mentioned previous i am a keyboard hunter now, i no longer have working terriers. But lets be honest with each other, if someone stipulates a colour when looking for a stud, pup, whatever. It is surely a step backwards with regards to genuine working terriers. Priority should be given to using the best stud available, buying in the best pups available. Dont get me wrong if these happen to be chocolate then great. But i personally believe by stipulating a meaningless attribute like colour, you are narrowing down you chances of getting the best.     problem is cats enjoy the fredom to rome with no responsibility placed on the owner, but its a different story for dog owners, i know a lad that was walking down the street with 2 terriers on leads when a cat ambushed his dogs as he walked by a gateway to a property. the inevitable happend but the coppers still tried to charge him. absolute madness. cats and badgers are the ethnic minorites of the animal world :laugh: :laugh:
