  1. due to the very mild autum and winters we have experienced over the recent years the fleas and tics have been active for longer so the virus has been around for longer. from my observations it seems to go in 5 year cycles. year 1 the area will be descimated then over the next 4 years it will recover to roughly 3/4 of the origanal population. its as if they have a sort of semi immunity with just odd ones falling to the virus. then in year 5 a full on outbreak again. then the cycle continues loosing a 1/4 of their number every time so the population gets smaller and smaller.

  16. sounds abit like a strained back muscle my old dog did it the other season screamed like hell everytime he moved even had to make him a bed on the floor as he couldnt even jump onto the bedboard it took ages to heal everytime he seemed to be getting over it, it would flare up again. happy to say he made a full recovery. hope it all works out aswell for you and yours mate.
  17. just put the mod under the rifle bit where it says firearms to be purchased as for ammo differs from force to force but for a rimmy i always put buy 500 keep 600 the worst that will happen is they will adjust it down.
  18. good stockmanship is sound if youve got large packs of dogs/hounds, flocks of sheep, herds of cows but fot the lads with the odd lurcher or 2 then good common sense will surfice.
  19. have lamped full moon no wind, no clould cover etc, but to be honest if you lamp local like me, your only educating everything for very little reward, far better to stack the odds in your and the dogs favour as much as possible. so wind, clould cover and new moon nights are the way to go.
  20. I often wondered what do people mean by a hard night/day, like how many runs/courses would you call hard day/night It's relative to the individual dog and how fit it is old it is etc? For a average dog(if there is such a thing) lamping rabbits anything over 15 runs is starting to be a decent work out, but it depends on the individual dog! Im talking about my 3year-old pure whippet What would be hard on her? you will know by her look and mannorisium if shes had a hard night.
