  1. Why does the deer look more psycho than Stavros? I'm expecting it to pop back to life any moment for revenge...
  2. Yep that will explain the red on it's neck then....
  3. Not if you live in Eynsham. There's some mysterious hedgehog skinner on the loose who sneaks in and skins hedgehogs skillfully with a knife in the middle of the night: https://www.witneygazette.co.uk/news/17794812.vicious-hedgehog-attack-eynsham-prompts-wildlife-warning/
  4. I wouldn't even consider one unless they up the power to 0.72ft lbs. Not humane enough on Blue bottles. You don't want a midge gun.
  5. Great photos. What did you take them with? BTW found you a gun so you can take out those crickets. A flea gun to go with the mouse gun, 2.4mm, let the flammin' begin: Apparently the UK has already become worried by it as the 0.71 ft lbs can pentrate the skin or eye at close range according to experts. Hang on, don't we already sell 12ft lbs air guns and aren't handguns already banned? It's snowflaking hard in blighty. https://www.zdnet.com/article/worlds-smallest-gun-is-highly-concealable-triggers-fears/
  6. Nah I was just giving an example. I've never shot deer and have no intention of doing so. Too much walking for me. I'm a lazy kind of shooter. When there's a drone that goes and guts it, picks it up and brings it back, I might give it a go.
  7. Slight exageration maybe although I have seen it done on videos from the US but then again they take some extreme shots by the standards over here - how about elk at 3/4 mile!: Apart from questions of the humaneness due to the risk of wounding through bullet travel time, that hike looks far too much like hard work for me.
  8. Pity you can't leave bambi under a hedge like you can fox. Trouble is the legs sticking out ends to attract attention. Be the ideal solution in a remote field though. The flies and local foxes would have it down in no time. Must admit I've never been bothered by deer. Miles of hiking, days without a shot. You fianlly get a shot and the bloody deer is 1/2 a mile away up some mountain when you take it. Then it falls dead and falls another 1/2 mile away into a ravine. You trudge miles to get it. Have to deal with it, then have to carry the bloody thing back for all the miles you walked + plus the
  9. I think you can still do solar on this one with a standlone panel / box.
  10. I did but they were my own units. Not after this latest one though. If it proves reliable I'm sticking with VOSS and trusting the meter! BTW, I'm not yet looney enough to go into the countryside licking fences...maybe in a few years...I'll just have to remember to buy a Spaniel or take a Sausage Dog...
  11. Well as I kindly got dragged into this one... I have to agree with Deker here soley in the part quoted above. I haven't read the rest and I'm not planning on getting dragged into it. Despite loving the effects of .204, it's hardly justifiable for the majority of shooters as a rabbit gun. Although I'm a great believer in you can never have too much hydrostatic shocking power from a humane perspective (ie power in calibres that won't over penetrate), vaporising your prey isn't necessary. If it floats your boat then why not, if you can afford the extra ammo cost or time spent reloadi
  12. As promised, the new Unit: Power light is at the top (out because of the pulse). Pulse light is at the bottom and segmented - how far it goes across indicates whether the unit is outputting at 100% or whether there's an issue and the percenateg actually being sent.On opff is soft touch and dual function for on / off, full / 1/2 power adjustment. 21cm before anyone asks, not that I'm boasting. Incidentally, Walshie, they're selling many of the old style units off atm. No sure how much difference there is in the tech and how much is cosmetic. The new units use a lot less ju
  13. Well at least being a fence if it breaks down someone looking smug in a Toyota doesn't drive past. Hoping it's more reliable than German cars... Nice unit Walshie. I want to shock cats, herons and foxes though, not cook them! Yeah that was my method on the other units. After all, how can you know if a fence is effective if you've never felt it? My method has now changed to using the meter!
  14. That's more expensive compared to Voss and looks far less featured / capable. It's also lower voltage. £2 might not sound much but this unit is dual power for £99 and comes with the mains adapter included. They're also German made. The unti I bought which is comparable is 12kv and 3 joule. It hit me on 1/2 power. VOSS claim to use some clever waveform tuning to ensue the shock is much larger than a fence of comparable size from other manufacturers. I would have called bullsh*t but just having been hit by one, I have to say I'm a believer. As above I've been hit by a 1.2J Hotlines, and I'd have
  15. Thanks. Never tried Gallagher. Not impressed with Hotlines as you might be able to tell. My battery operated Pel lasted 12 years. Hotlines, until 1 month out of warranty. Got it repaired, it lasted another 3 weeks or so after that. Opening it up, some of the components looked poor quality in my opinion notably the HT coil which had split apart as it failed - very thin cheap plastic around it and coil looked cheap as a result. Pel was absolute quality. Too early to tell on the VOSS but very impressed with the one I bought so far. German made so fingers crossed. Ask me in 3 years!
  16. Just wondered what fencing solution you're using. I've had PEL, Hotlines (absolute trash in my opinion), and just bought VOSS (PEL 3v, others 12 volt or mains (dual power - I ran 12v). All I can say about VOSS as too early to comment on reliability is holy sh*t!!!!! I tested it on 1/2 power (it's a 10K volt 3 joule unit on full and 6K 1.5 Joule Unit on 1/2), and compared to the Holtines 1.2J unit, again Holy Sh*t. The Hotlines unit which was trash for quality, used to give you a sharp jerk in the arm biceps. Touched the VOSS on 1/2 power whilst sat down and I literally jumped several feet
  17. I agree. My mate once wanted me to take a shot at a fox hidden by wheat in a field. We saw him go in, we could see where he was - little bit of red through the slightest gap - talking inches, but it was impossible to see anything to confirm his orientation or where his body parts were positioned which meant I would be shooting blind at a known spot of wheat without being able to see the target. I refused and let the fox trot off through the wheat. I thought I knew where the head was but I was never ging to risk a shot without a clear line of sight to the head / body itself as without it was ju
  18. Somehow at that distance I'd have thought you'd have memomentarily been sat with the truck between your teeth, after you'd melted and before you exploded of course. At least the rabbits would come pre-cooked (charcoaled is cooked in my kitchen). My Christmas turkey is always browned.
  19. That looks lke you nuked em. Could swear there's a mushroom cloud behind your truck. Would like to know how you got that on your licence.
  20. Sounds like we have a mouse gun convert. Good day out. Some chickens can sleep easy tonight.
  21. Well I didn't realise they had such an impact on other wildlife., you guys educated me on their destructive side As said earlier, I believed they ate worms and carrion not hedgehogs and songbirds. As for cut and paste, all my own views.
  22. You could try these (no personal experience): http://www.firecaptargets.co.uk You can buy caps from here: https://www.toycapguns.co.uk/caps and also ebay Don't know if it works but one way to reduce cost per shot would be to leave a part fired ring in place and just replace a few caps at a time. Guess it's going to depend on how loud the are. Looking at the above, using full rings is just over 20p per shot.
