  1. It's all good for you and Charlie's clever but I'm still surprised they haven't managed to stop him with electric fencing. There's obviously some gap in how their fencing it, earth leakage or the energisers aren't strong enough. I'm only protecting a pond but nothing gets past that VOSS energiser I've got set up and that includes me - I'm terrified of it. I have to turn it off to hang the washing out!
  2. We can all see it's not the dirt that gets Henry's sucking.
  3. Never shot geese but I'm surprised they're turning .22 and hmr, although pigeon can turn a 12g on the roost. On the South African Air Gun channel on Yotuube he regularly takes them with an 80ft lb air rifle and .22 slug. He also uses a .22-250 although that takes away the point of reducing claibre really. By shear co-incidence he put a goose shooting video up yesterday. He was head shooting though so maybe that's the difference. Maybe time for a PCP Gav: ? However, equally I'm sure he'd done video in the past of canada on crops and body shot, but I could be mistaken.
  4. Why not just a shotty? Running the .308 must cost a fortune. You could buy a hide for less than a couple of days shooting .308 against flocks of birds. The noise will also tend to scare them and maybe make the land less attractive. If not maybe a .22 or .17 if you need more range than a shotty. I'm sure you'd take more with a quiet gun as you could pick off the outer birds un-noticed. Although the .22LR is the quiet one, if you need the range a small .17 is going to be not too noisy at greater range. HMR springs to mind or if you need more range then one of the Hornets. .17 hornet should
  5. I'd complain to CZ in any event. There are 2 possibilities: 1. They're saving cash somewhere and it's back firing. 2. Someone in the factory is rogue and doesn't know what they're doing or maybe they're p*ssed at the company and do know what they're doing! Either way, CZ need to know if the guns they're turning out are now crap. Without that, the whole brands going to go downhill in the long run. Best to feed it back even if you're not going to return the gun and point out others have been having similar problems and people are now abandoning the brand. Personally I'd have returned i
  6. Must admit I can't udnerstand that in the UK. Surely everyone is limited by their ticket.
  7. Just spend it on ammo. You'll become a much better shot when you're hungry. (Sounds like a Snickers advert for sports people!) (PS leave a £1 for the matches).
  8. Wasn't quite the blow I was thinking about, but if she can manage 70mph, then by all means get the washing out as well.
  9. You can't fault a good blow on a Saturday night though.
  10. From what Sauage was saying about it being painful, I think that's what he uses as well! At least it gives a good excuse for when you miss. You can blame the "gust of wind" and on a still day, turn away, pretent to sneeze and blow through it.
  11. Never used one. No reason why it wouldn't work. It's just using the phone as the processor, so basically the same as every other anemometer. That said, loads of non smart phone based for only £12.99. Given the choice, I'd buy a dedicated one (less hassle, no bits to fall off or wires to come disconnected, doesn't get in the way of phone calls etc.): https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=wind+meter&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
  12. Well he did say cock... This board becomes more like an episode of Southpark every day.
  13. Or you could just go .204 Ruger. Smaller bullet in a .22 remington magnum case with probably the best terminal performance of any of the .22's and make a whole upper class of new friends....? As it's rarer, you'll probably find one in stock easier. Saves buying those jogging bottoms. Apparently toilet rolls out of fashion. The latest item for hoarding is jogging pants for the .223 massive. Word out.
  14. Neither has he. Luckily I found him a training video for how to hang out with the new friends he'll be making: (Bad Language Warning - Not work appropriate?
  15. Must admit, I've heard you're hundred yard shots are legendary: ?
  16. Sauagage has mouse addiction. We just need to ween him off the .22 now that he's on the good stuff...... If he keeps this up he'll be discovering .17 Hornet next!
  17. I agee with a lot of what you say. However, I see fighting for a rights as a fundamental if shooting is to have a future. Without challenge, groups such as WJ will simply get everything banned. Shooting has for too long been silent and just hidden away hoping we wouldn't get noticed. We've been an easy target for ill thought out knee jerk show legislation everytime something has happened. I agree it could be better, but the BASC finally recognising a need to fight is a step in the right direction. I agree entirely with your other thoughts though. Shooting news can be left to shooting
  18. No excuse for not finding a backstop on there. Lovely piece of shooting topography.
  19. TBH I fail to see how they could be sued if they followed the Home Office Guidelines. To sue sucessfully you have to show negligence and you're going to struggle to show negligence if they have followed the official Home Office Licensing Guidance to the letter.
  20. If you're on fb and in any way connected to the BASC you'll find they're now quite active. I believe they're challenging WJ in Court, and almost everyday their lobbying MP's / making press statements in support of shooting. Far better position than where shooting effectively tried not to be noticed most of the time. https://www.(!64.56:886/BASCuk/posts/3396081767092411 Having said that as a positive, for me the withdrawal of the licensing insurance to fund it was the wrong move. They could have self insured to save money.
  21. TBH the nonsense they're involving themsleves in is exactly what they should have been doing for years - fighting to save our sport / pest control / addressing politicians not hiding away hoping no-one would notice us. I agree though dropping firearmes licensing cover was a mistake. The only reason I'd ever join BASC would be for licensing cover. They could have self insured rather than spent money paying insurance policies from insurers who are always raising fees. The membership fee also became excessive in my opinion. I know 2 people who'd never picked up a firearm in their lives, a
  22. Ahhh..shooting fish now are we.... A bad angler always reaches for his gun. I know I am one!
  23. I'm guessing maybe there's light emmission beyond the red spectrum or at least at the edges of it as it seems they're seeing something. Great you got the old dog though. The farmer can sleep tonight.
  24. Yes foxes are red green colour blind. At a guess it's seeing some residual white light through the filter (i doubt there's 100% conversion) with a filter rather than a pure red light source. Options here might be to use a red LED bulb (maybe still plus filter) (try to get the specs and make sure the spectrum of emmission is tight around the main visible red wavelengths (635-650nm)), or alternatively try a green filter with the existing light as suggested above in the hope of better conversion.
