On paper they look nothing special: http://www.meliorcartridges.com/en/outdoorsbrand/melior/products/hunting/super_gt/super_gt_32_grs 415m/s is approx 1,360fps. Both Hull and Gamebore have cartidges around 1,500fps. Then again, if they hit hard, are at the right price and you like them, that's all that matters.

Quite handy though. You had 10 slugs lkeft in your tin, you open it and find 20. Never had that happen with a rifle round.

The South African guys have been using hybrid slugs. I'm not sure but to get the best out of them, I think you need a specific barrel designed for slugs. That said, as you say, they've been using them to over 200yds and I believe the slugs carry far more energy at range than the pellets, probably due to weight and aerodynamics.

Only just seen this. I too hope you have a wonderful day out and that she really enjoys it. You'll have to get her a photo and a little trophy to sit on the bedside as a reminder. Best wishes to all of you.

Maybe people are just friendlier up North. Where I used to go, you chatted and joked with anyone and everyone even if not in your group. Often had conversations about people's guns and often they would offer to let you shoot a stand to try it. Guess it just shows how different grounds differ. I guess as well Covid does change things atm.

I said I was out but a quick return. This exactly. ? You're right, you're not going to be able to try a new gun although I have heard of the odd shop with a clay shoot out the back and trial guns. However, just going to a regular clay shoot and chatting to someone about balance and differences between the brands, as you shoot a round will often get them to offer you to try out their gun on that stand. It's a great way to get to try different guns for free. You can also always be cheaky and ask if subtlty doesn't work. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Learning to wear a

Cheddar doesn't cost £4k. I don't care if you get the popularity vote on here from the smilies. Berreta and Browning balance fundamentally different and anyone who spends £4k on a gun without trying it to find out if it suits them is an idiot. I'm out of this thread as clearly there isn't any common sense.

That raises questions as to why there are cull organisers rather that just the police licensing individuals and privacy questions about the companies concerned. Surely orgainsation is a job for DEFRA who should decide which land requires culls, and for it to be administered through the police who contact and authorise shooters to go onto the land. No licensing data should be being passed out to 3rd party companies, even DEFRA. As for the 3rd party company, in my opinion, they need prosecuting for data breaches and the individual needs hunting down and prosecuting for the same.

Pesonally I know of very few people who've just gone out and bought a gun, and of the ones I do know, most have regretted it. Most people get invited to a clay shoot. Find they enjoy it, go back a few times, try other people's guns in the process, find out what they like, and then buy, all in all a process of a few months usually. By all means go out and just buy. However, it's the old saying, buy with haste and regret at leisure. Browning and Berretta and related group products all balance very differently. You only have at best a 50:50 chance of getting it right.

Found this video on Youtube I thought was excellent. As this question gets asked a lot now, especially since BASC stopped their cover, I thought it might be useful to post it here:

Everyone's different however it not about muscle memory but how comfortable you feel with the gun. The balance of both berreta and browning family guns is fundamentally different. I have now doubt anyone that can shoot can shoot either. However, most find they're more comfortable with one than the other and the more comfortable and natural a gun feels in your hands, the better it swings and the better you shoot. I know of plenty of people who bought 1st and then a year down the line tried the other brand and instantly liked it more and shot better, with instant regret for buying 1st. As said w

You can find some tough old birds in city centres. That's why most lads prefer the country ones. Not seen as much action so fresher to the table.

Handling and balance are the most important thing. Gte out on a clay shoot and shoot a bit with both Beretta and Browning before making any purchase. You're going to find one sits and swings easier than the other for you, guaranteed and once you do you'll know which camp you're in. To juts buy now on the basis of brand because it's good, could be the most expensive mistake you'll ever make.

No wonder thast welding masks not working. It's showing your pinky bits.

Pav don't let this thread get to you. A minor debate about whether or not something is vermin, is well minor. It doesn't detract from the wonderful night out or your spoils from that pest control outing. You did a wonderful job controlling the pests and got a hare as well. See it for what it is.
-
No quite true. You can't shoot them on Sundays or Christmas Day! You can't sell them between March and July. Techincally, Hares are classified Game not vermin.

70ft lbs is what AirArmsHunters SA use on their .22FX I believe. Some good long range shots on there. I believe they often use FX hybrid slugs for the non feathered vermin as they fly further, flatter and are more destructive like a proper rifle round. Are some shots on there at over 150yds using FX air. Slugs are here: https://fxairguns.com/accessories/fx-hybrid-slugs/ FX also do the .25 cal which I believe in 1 video I saw was custom tuned by FX to 140 ft lbs.

On a local fishing lake I've seen canadas all summer raising young. Started off as 2 adults. Finished up as 2 adults and about 8 youngsters which are now at flying stage. Nice birds apart from they sh*t everywhere. Can't walk around the lake for fighting thousand of pieces of small dog sized poop. Would need a big frying pan though (for the birds not the poop).

Found this if you really want to risk your retinas: https://ivantactical.com/shop/weapon-accessories/flashlights-and-accessories/flashlights/zenitco-2ikslaser-klesh-tactical-ir-illuminator-with-ir-laser/ Don't know if it will pass customs or not, or if it is classified legal in the UK. You need to do your own research on legallity. Stated range is 400m on the laser portion. The laser portion will damage eyes if shone into them on higher power settings. Some other suggestions in this thread, note forget the Attilla, it can't be exported outside of the US as it's a military design

If you go to the pin map, on the pin map 1 was in Cornwall, with it zoomed out I thought the rest were the Devon / Cornwall border. As you zoom out you can see they're more towards Dorset / Wiltshire. Either way, the person leaking the info should be prosecuted. It clearly contains information from the PNC as it includes certificate numbers. Personally I think the way to avoid this, apart from stiff jail terms for those leaking PNC info, would be to make this detailed information only available to each Chief Constable locally on their PC and require anyone needing info about an individual shoo

Firstly, have you shot a shotgun before and established which way you swing ie. Beretta or Browning, as that above all else will dictate wich brands you should look towards. They're as different as straight and gay. Perosnally, I wouldn't just pick a brand and buy a shotgun. I'd establish Beretta or Browning and then start to look at each main brand's associated brands. With a shotgun, unlike a rifle, balance is the key consideration. Beyond that, as you mentioned Miroku, if you're a Browning fan then Miroku, Browning, Winchester, Remington will all float your boat. Miroku's are exce
