Dogs That Don't Make The Grade Or Jack.
Poacherspocket replied to Dranny GLC's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If you have a dog that jacks you either stick by it, find it a pet home or a home doing something it can do. Dogs should never be put to sleep cos they cant do something. People who put a dog to sleep for not making the grade or whatever want a bullet themselves. -
Where abouts is that babot hall? Iv found a barbot hall in rotherham

That is the plan from now on during the season but iv stopped ferreting and lamping now with everything full of young.

I found a 20 yr old bulldog spade in my Grandads shed and believe me the difference it made to digging was unbelievable. Light, not too long and smash through anything. Dont sacrifice for anything else there well worth buying another you wont regret it.

If his name may be an issue for recall try whistle training him same as you would a gun dog. 2 pips for come, 1 for sit and blow like crazy for stop. The latter is handy if your on the lamp and the dogs heading for danger. I find the whistle a hell of a lot more assertive and easier when having multiple dogs at the same time on walks. Hope that helps.

My collie x lurcher has a white bib so that could well come from the collie. Although I do reckon hes either a heavy 1st x collie grey or could have a tiny bit of bull. Its all a guessing game really but anyway hes a handsome looking dog and good look to you with him hope he turns out a good'un.

Must have had the shittiest day for a long time today and a bit of a result in the process. My rugby match got called off and got a text to play for stocksbridge 1st team as they were short although I hate rugby union I thought id give it a go. Well I managed to get to york before my phone crashed enternet and signal lost. I drove around for over an hour trying to find the club and failes so I decided to go knocking farms instead as my blood was boiling. Anyway a nice 609 acres of flat land to do some ferreting, my dogs are aloud and the sets only look shallow. Anyone else got lost recently? L

So you get a better purse on the rabbit. Why or when would you use one of these then? If you have a bigger hole possibly with multiple tunnels to it?

That looks a very well made net from the picture but what is a poke net? Iv used long nets gate nets and purse nets but never heard of or seen a poke net?

not necessarily the whole point of that c5 programme was saying dog foods are packed full of cerials that dogs do not need or want and can struggle to digest or whatever. Which is why you get massive stools etc. In my opinion dog food will do a good job but with more waste out of the dog I suppose and the dogs wont digest it as easily as raw meat.

This countries f****d end of. English have no rights anymore. People have died for this country and our rights and now the goverment lets this happen.

Only way of knowing is getting out and ferreting and seeing when the rabbits have young. It also pays off to have permission in different environments that way you have more chance of having a longer season.
-
Sounds a good day. Were they bolted with the ferrets or just caught in the open?
-
Thats another Reason why iv had mine done because with her been a little bully id have every chav in the local area coming knocking if I bred her and id never want to let go of a single pup if I thought they were an idiot.

You can get them on a large card from poundland with roughly 8 of each size battery and there pretty good too.

Just had my bitch spayed about 11 days ago and she is now off the lead and doesnt seem bothered in the slightest. She seems as keen as ever if not more keen due to the fact she's been lead bound.

Humans can get ringworm from coming into things like fence posts that cattle have rubbed themselves against. I got it on my leg. Bit of cream and it was gone in a few week.

I think the problem with bull breeds is often the damage they inflict. But before I go any further im a big fan of them and think they make some of the most loyal dogs. The point im making is we all have bad days and make wrong decisions and so do dogs. For example my dads labrador is an outstanding dog but I can think of one time when he bit another dog just the once but the soft mouthed lump didnt even make a mark all he did was cover the other dog in saliva and the other owner laughed and we got in with it. Where as most bull breeds if they make that 1 bad decision they often cause damage

Unfortunatly the rabbits have just started breading on my permission which is pretty much dry now so weve had to leave it alone. Last sunday we had 7 rabbits before we decided to gut them and move to another warren and discovered there bellies were full. So unless the farmer calls with any problem rabbits il leave them to bread for next time
