  2. Bring out the gimp................ Its this Gimps day off
  3. Thanks for that LINK, and it is from an independant and un-biased source at least. not like International Fund for Animal Welfare are anti-hunt and also they just report the facts not bending the truth at all? whats the difference between a bear and a rabbit?? None, i use ferrets to bolt rabbits, the russians use dogs! Occasionally i have killed does that have had kits, occasionally the russians kill bears that have cubs, no difference at all You really need to be careful what examples and what sources you use in this argument (sorry debate) to not damage your own arg
  4. Hob and Jill you could always do what Baldie and Sprags did to get their tickets, but it involves Swarfega, a gimp suit and lots of sticky tape........and a firearms enquiries officer called Zed
  5. i go ferreting and enter my ferrets to wake up the sleeping rabbits and have been known to shoot the rabbits as they leave.........any comparison there?? Also bears dont sleep all winter like you are led to believe by watch Yogi bear cartoons, they do wake occasionally and do sometimes come out to eat/drink/have a shit in the woods etc...they just try and preserve as much energy as they can during the very cold winters Forgive them father, for they no not what they say Bless you my son, Doxhope how did you know i am a Vicar??

  8. I also once spent ten minutes looking for a fox and in fact missed it because it was in plain sight, they do plend in well when down, this fox i shot with my shotgun at about 25 yards, it ran about 5 yards and dropped down dead near a patch of bramble and dead bracken/undergrowth, it blended perfectly into the undergrowth in the fading light and if i hadn't have kicked its tail i would have missed where it was

  10. spot on snoop my dogs are always around my kids ///john ................ I cannot believe that the 'Almighty Snoop's' missed the plot there Sounder,...can you?
  11. doxhope we live in a country where ritual slaughter for kosher and halal meat is allowed, they bleed to death by having their throat cut. not getting into the rights or wrongs of that, but other cultures have different values and different ethics Again walk a mile in another mans shoes and you may understand more. I actually fancy a holiday to Russia now, i wonder if my young female workmate fancies coming and translating for me
  12. Just sat here reading this and a colleague of mine (a young lady who speaks fluent Russian) who is a mine of info on all things Russian, added a few points, the russian mentality to animals is a lot less fluffy than ours, they have NO animal rights movement, they ALL wear fur, they very rare have PET's She could understand the russians conducting themselves in this manner, and she could also see how us in western europe wouldn't find it acceptable
  13. here's the PM i sent to Molly when this thread was locked (I HAVEN'T COPIED HER REPLY AS I HAVEN'T ASKED FOR PERMISSION):- Molly not meaning to start a big debate on pm, i was dissapointed that the thread has been closed, i can understand the reasons for it being closed, but i wanted to express a few points about borzois and wolf coursing that were relevant and no one seemed to know or input. Borzois are run in small packs at wolfs , the minimum number is 3 at any one time, in russia they even have 3 coursing slip couple's with long leads so that 3 can be slipped together by a moun
  14. the only purpose is that their wont be many wolves in the area, so they used a "canned" one dawn as i said before its not a training exercise its what they do We are all commenting on this from a western perspective, live in minus 40 and hardly have enough to eat and live in a very hostile and politically harsh country with the only comfor being vodka and wolf coursing and then maybe, just maybe we may understand their view point in life different folks different strokes, i aint condoning or criticising them its what they are and what they do
  15. also it wasn't a training exercise, they train the borzois on foxes, and place a new borzoi with a couple or more experienced dogs
  16. this topic was closed a minute ago (apologise to Molly for the PM now that i can reply on here with my knowledge of wolf coursing) In russia they have different opinions and are from a different mind set. may i explain a few things. In Russia a wolf hunt consists of a pack of hounds (very similar to Foxhounds) they are operated by groups of peasant on foot and their primary and only function is to flush the wolfs from woodland/cover. (A bit like a beaters line but with hounds rather than spaniels) the mounted huntsman then is stationed near to the expected flush point of the
  17. Born and bred Yorkshireman, thats where i learnt the true art and became a master ferreter, now live in Buckinghamshire....so a honourary southerner
  18. Probably why do you want a gun and where will you be using it etc.....its not really an interview (well mine wasn't) just a chat, he saw my dogs and ferrets and understood what kind of bloke i was, its just to make sure your not a complete loon really.
  19. good pic, i like the cockers , have one myself and a good mixed bag
  20. Last time i wasout ferreting i had three red kites circling me like vultures. I wouldn't leave the ferts above ground long near them either. I think they were probably just interested and were drawn to the rabbit warrens as they do take their fair share of young rabbits etc...
  21. the above points are the exact points that the CA should have used to educate the public and to show that there is more than red coats to hunting then and only then may we get a repeal, they aren't going to repeal something that they think only effects a small percentage of the upper classes, the only way to get rid of the rubbish they dumped on us is to make it more complicated.........your last point about socio-economic groups is along the right lines
  22. Also the link to the CA that TF has put up, it refers to foxes and fox hunting....again the point i was trying to make (sorry went off on rant about new labour and devolution) was that there are many different types of hunting practised by many different types of people, not just the stereotypical "toff's"" in red coats, we needed (and still need to) show all the other forms of hunting affected by this law and show the different types of people affected, then we may get some sympathy by the impartial public and get back on track
  23. I understand a lot of toms comments about the CA, both north of the border and here in good old england they have sold us down the river, but in different ways. As i have repeated before and in other places, the powers that be that were (still should be) fighting the Hunting act, should have portrayed all levels and types of hunting, i feel they distanced themselves from the grass roots/working class hunters and portrayed the wrong image which New Labour loved as they wanted the Hunting ban as retribution for long ago misdeeds by the "Toff's". (the miners strike has been mentioned several

a mate of mine who is young and has a high powered GOLF, insures it in his workmates name with him as a named driver? his workmate is an institute of advanced drivers driver You can get no claims bonuses with some companies even if you are only a named driver, that would be a way round , i think they do break down the insurance areas to local postcodes, so not all liverpool would be the same, perhaps your nan's address might help?? good luck, i never had a car when i was a teenager i had motorbikes, when i was 17(i passed my bike test when i was 17) i was riding a Yamaha RD400E and pay
