  1. I shot a HW 97 KT .177 stage two tuned by them at my ranges and i felt i had discovered the HW 100 with a spring in it, feck me it was good. So to put you all in the know i fancy a HW 97 kt .177 cal stage two tuned by Tony Wall. If i go for it i am waiting 16 weeks. Thoughts lads ?
  2. Lads i made an enquiry by email about a rifle (i`m considering buying) and calibre being tuned by Sandwell Field Sports at 8-15 pm tonight, by 8-30pm Tony Wall himself had answered four email enquires . Just brilliant i thought, -
  3. The Imp is not available in .177 i believe, - is that correct lads please ?
  4. The Jim Shokeye generation 2 Primos Shooting Sticks ( yes tripod). The full length ones (Jim Shokeye) allow you to shoot very steadily indeed. They are 62 inches tall atb
  5. Think of all that wonderful exercise Mac,- another 12 months and you`ll be known as "Little Mac" OR "Little Twat" instead of the other way round
  6. You have to be a "decent" shot though, to use a Mamba scope.
  7. Ditto to all the above I have just zeroed my TX 200 .177 to exactly 36 yards, using AA Fields 8.4 grain and she is giving me a zero from 9 yds to 41 yds. By zero i mean she is firing a pellet within a one inch circle within those ranges. After 41 yds hold over will start to be required and you need to calibrate you rifle and scope, (take note of your mill dots/ pellet impact every 5 yards) I am expecting very "similar" from my HW 100 kt .177 using AA Fields 8.4 grain also. Take a look at - "Best zero ranges" in the search engine top ri
  8. Nice scope the Mamba lite, i have an eye on the MTC Viper 4-16x50 ir for my 100 but still checking out the "millions of options" Weight is not an issue hide shooting off the Primos, if anything, more weight = even steadier Spot on there Mac,- " You just know you have something special when that cross hair comes down on to your target and you know it`s in the bag" atb
  9. Yeah Twatty, where`s the Raider ?
  10. TC looks like your no 4 tw&t
  11. Have you got your scope on "the right way up" tonight? Good luck lads. Mac did you mention that excaliber to Vis, his mate is selling one ? Thanks mate.
  12. I`m out tonight too, about 9pm, . Nice fire, good wire.
  13. Because i`ve had more than two 25th birthdays i work in feet and inches you see .Old school. So yes everything is in yards. BN if you zero to "smack on" 36 yds the "rule of thumb" is 9yds to 41 yds using (8.4 grain) pellets your pellet`s flight path will be within a one inch circle "it is not written in stone", especially using different weighted pellets obviously. atb
  14. Hi Steve, Shooting tin cans 40 years ago with the man`s calibre .22 - yep, i know where you are coming from mate , boy has this sport come on since then. You`ll need to shoulder some rifles at the gunsmiths and make your choice but go midweek when the gunroom is quieter . Scope wise, i like the mamba scopes with the scb reticules (designed for air guns and their trajectory). Hares ? Shot in the head = DEAD at air rifle ranges. PCP - again shoulder them, HW 100`S and Air Arms are the norm.
  15. Take a very close look at the BSA Ultra SE and my babies HW 100`S - absolutely lethal to small game/ vermin. Good luck with your choice.
  16. Welcome Johno All HW, Air Arms are good but some are heavy too, what style of shooting do you have in mind ? Opportunist - walk about, mooch about, just general everyday? Static, hide shooting? Have you given calibre any thought ? Scope wise, Mamba or Hawke seem very popular. atb ( all the best)
  17. Can tell your back from Butlins Twatty. only saying !!
  18. Just pulling your leg mate - foggy,- dipped beam "Don`t shout at me BN" atb
  19. Never given recoil a thought in all these years . Just done my best to get competent in any of the calibers. .22 or .177 springer - i`m happy with either to be honest.
  20. The lads seem to have forgotten to mention - make sure your lamp is "dipped" in foggy conditions.
  21. I`m lucky in that i don`t take much notice of recoil as i shoot shot guns a lot too. Recoil from my TX 200 .177,- neither here nor there , it`s a lethal springer. . I use AA Fields 8.4 grain,- i use the calibre for what it gives springer or pcp. atb
  22. Skot one shot asked me this one a while ago. Jonnie i`m old school and when i`m after something like a Magpie say at 40 yds on a steep downward shot that shot i practice. Skot was having trouble with the incline so i said go out to the incline and make a note of the mill dot requirements and place a marker accordingly. It cured his problem and the rabbits were all bagged i believe. Weight does not come into contention in the building of your shot off well set shooting sticks. The sticks (Primos tripod)are a great platform and will aid you in
