Wanted Webley Venom Viper Or Excalibre .177
mark williams replied to mark williams's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
Yes mate dont i know it ? The venom viper should not prove too hard i hope and pretty much as good, many would say better. I was offered an excalibre in .22 at Mc avoys standish for £500 - silencer removed, sling removed and just one mag` no ta ! -
Hi lads i`m looking for one of these rifles. atb.
-
Any duck i get meets pancakes and hoisin sauce but yes they are a pest and to get closer than a field away is a real challenge as they are totally wild, that`s why i fancied the fieldcraft test and air rifle test. Why, is there a difference - either way they are food for my family ? Anyhow i`ll stick with my shotguns for this job now as unsporting is not a nice word in the shooting community no harm done, atb.
-
To input a little more, as said yesterday, i`ll keep with my U turn on the matter of air rifle and ducks and if considered unsporting, so be it. Hope you can tell i have never attempted duck with an air rifle, only shot guns but "Hey, Ho, there we go" i`ll go with the flow. atb

The mk1 r10 had it`s faults, the mk2 is the improved version. The BSA Ultra SE is a superb pcp and all round gun. especially in .177 Good luck Spud

Undone many a bolt with a hammer? Just shows you are a cowboy! And also that you are a repetitive offender for using the wrong tool for the job tut tut.
-
Walshie, i`ve "undone many a bolt" with a hammer and spanners are "far better" with bolts than a hammer "you know" Is shooting "sitting ducks" or "anything else sitting" sporting ? - with an air rifle and skills required to "get in range" oh yesssss ! Thank you for the BASC codes of practice. They are correct.

Dave i`m not even in "fecking reverse"

Hw 100Kt Lets Have One Then ...
mark williams replied to Merlin21's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Mmmmm looks a quality rifle as said and you hope it groups half as good as your HW 100 you`ll be happy ? Why pay £500 more than your 100 for it (£1250 to £1350) in total is that ? - for half as good ? Why ? -
For all hunting skills, fieldcraft and know how, - there is no competition. The Air Rifle has no competitors what so ever "BUT" if you want to be "SPORTING" get a shot gun !
-
Lovely Perch, what lure/ bait did you use. .177 or .22
-
When my 100 goes pffft at vermin they dont get up either Saying that i get the same results with my shotguns, but i like the competitions/ cups a lot,- not that i`ve been for a while on the clays just rough shooting of late but regular.

An air gun pellet, a single projectile, aimed and fired to hit one specific spot "period" to give instant despatch, same as Charlie`s .243 albeit far differing ranges but same result,- "If you hit the head, it`s dead" and "if you miss, you miss" Shot gun,- general direction with a cloud of pellets, generally speaking if you hit with most of your pattern "dead" ! - "if you miss with most of your pattern, you wound" and if you "miss completely" you should not be shooting In my book, a single projectyle, is very humane in comparison and "Far

Duck, Goose, Pheasant, Pigeon, Rabbit, RAT the list goes on and on, some Vermin, some game, ALL living creatures and ALL respected as such by most i would think. The "true reflection of thought" has to be, "what is the difference" ? In my younger days i read an article in airgun world of a chap shooting geese with a .177 air rifle (1980`s) with his dog in tow, the boffs will remember it i would think and i`m fairly sure they were Pink Foot and Canadian. Anyway,

If that squirrel was swimming that shot would have been "unsporting" Shooting TCB

Britain That Was More Free
mark williams replied to just-A-snap's topic in General Airgun Discussion
At least i`m 5th atb -
Well the Duck has "Quacked off now" and won`t be happening . Makes me wonder though those of you who might consider an aspect of shooting "unsporting" yet will sit in a hide near a "baited up" squirell feeder ? Or maybe a cattle/ pig/ sheep feeder shooting unsuspecting Corvids or Rats, is that "sporting" or should they be shot with a shot gun whilst flying in, or running along ? What is the difference ? There are a lot of armchair hunters about (no slight intended), none of which have a country clue how to get near their quarry and take a static shot at a 5p coin size

Kindly, "calm down lads"- i mentioned - " I was tempted",- to try and take a duck by use of a long wait, camo and an air rifle. If this is considered unsporting, then fine, i shall not attempt it . I would have thought it far more skillful than a shotgun but there you go. So i`ll leave the air rifle at home and take my 12 bore instead,- is that ok ? With my "lead free" shells of coarse.
-
Stealth to a maximum, absolutely no chance of a result cocking springers in this situation.

I was walking my GSP tonight on one of my permissions and one of the lads that is also permitted to shoot there was after Duck on the flight ponds at last light. Pulled his leg a bit, had the craic, left him to it, - "Bang!, bang!" 15 min`s later (12 bore). "very skillful shooting " Made me fancy a crack at "well camo`d up " with the HW 100 kt .177, on Primos sticks, in the shadowed reeds waiting for those duck, as we do get quite a few. That would be a great air gun hunter challenge i think. "Tempted"

Best Way To Clean A Barrel
mark williams replied to big napper's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
No, no, mate. You "must be clean barreled" for each and every trial of pellet. That`s why i mentioned the most popular pellet with the HW 100 lads, at my club is the AA Fields Diablo 8.4 grain. Clean that barrel BN and trial the pellets with each clean barrel. "Good luck mate" -

HW 100 eh, in .177 - i sometimes shoot these guns. First job, get the barrel clean mate. Pick your choice of pellet and put a half a tin, or more even, through her, - to "lead the barrel", which in turn tightens your groups up "considerably". My mates who have HW 100`s like to use the AA Fields Diablo 8.4 grain for all shooting, hunting, hft, target, myself included. Your choice BN but do clean your barrel, pick your pellet and stick to that brand only and "don`t clean the barrel again" unless she becomes inaccurate in the far and -
