  1. i am undecided yet as i havnt used it much but i was dissapointed that the 75gr uccutip didnt exit the fox, i am not used to that as the 22-250 would punch holes in them.
  2. cheers guys i was going to christen it last week on a few bunnies but i didnt want to spoil it. martin , it is a robertson stock, much much better than the t3 synthetic that was on it.
  3. that is a massive fox ,nice work.
  4. well after a few blank nights i shot my first foxs since getting my 22-250 changed to a 243. what is strange is i have only ever shot foxs on the estate on monday nights the top fox is a dog shot around 50 yards and the vixen below was shot at 250-300, the bullet went in but there was no exit hole which is a first for me on returning the the pickup i saw another 3 foxs in the fields around the farmers house but as it was 1am , i thought that i better not shoot them incase i woke up the farmer but after speaking to the farmer today those foxs are fair game.
  5. i use the deben for bunnies and the striker on the 243. the 100w bulb in the striker does drain the battery very quickly so i stuck a 50w bulb in it instead.
  6. as long as the batteries use spade connectors they will be fine, i made up the same ones for both 7ah and 18 ah batteries.
  7. i made up a few of these , i used ebay, cheaper than buying them ready made
  8. i would say the amber filter does throw the light the best for foxs and i am a great fan of the red filter for bunnies.
  9. i would say around 1 hour continuous usage. i think the way it is worked out is you take the bulbs wattage and divide that by the voltage of the battery eg a 100 w bulb divided by 12 v = 8.3 ah. i have changed both my 170 lamps with 50 watt bulbs and to be perfectly honest i havnt noticed a difference in the strength of the beam but i now get twice the lamping time.
  10. i must say that is a fantastic group, i have yet to try the hornady but my groups with federal are around 1.5 inches which are really poor
  11. i am not a long time user of the hmr (only fired around 200 rounds through it) but i did give it a good clean last week with the rod , patches, brush, forest bore foam i done this 3 times letting the bore foam soak overnight and there was loads of the copper fouling removed so from now on i will use the rod on it after 50 or so shots. i have yet to try it on a target to see if the good clean has made a difference.
  12. i have used these and never had a runner, all have dropped on the spot.
  13. great shooting there martin, your freezer must be very full. i think muntjac are lovely looking deer.
  14. very well done foxdropper, if it aint pouring with rain tomorrow night i will definately be out with the rifle fox bashing.
  15. try typing banana magazine into google
  16. from what you say i would go for the hmr, since getting my hmr 6 months ago i have only used the .22 once.the reason for this is i have more peace of mind knowing there is much less chance of a ricochet with the hmr and the extended range . i would also get a cz, i got the full setup for £480 new. good luck with whatever you decide.
  17. i also have 2 12v 7ah batteries that i use but if i am planning on being out for hours i will stick the 12v 18 ah in a rucksack and off i go.
  18. i think 20" is perfect to balance up the gun with a T8 on the end.
  19. my dog is very independant but my bitch is very loyal. but it is a hassle when the bitch breaks down.
  20. light just won't cut the mustard mate, velocity, and BC hence the 87 grain v-max then you got a long range bullet, or the 105 A-max should be a fun summer for me i know the 105 a-max are for targets but have you ever used them on live quarry? what load do you use for the 87g v-max?
  21. i havnt yet started reloading but i wouldnt risk it, i believe the Lil gun was originally designed for the .410
  22. http://www.varmintal.com/atarg.htm
  23. i started my fox shooting using a 3 shot mossberg 500 using eley 3" magnum cartridges. i also only ever went lamping with the red filter on the lamp.
