  1. Snap - I think you have hit the nail on the head here - you use the correct weight of bullet head for deer when using the 243. I expect your M/V is around the 2900 mark. There is a chap not far from me using a 55gr in his 243 - his M/v must be up around 3700 - he has no option but neck/head shots. The 55gr was designed for small game like foxes in the 243 How about the 55gr winchester silvertips? according to the advert where they won best rifle cartridge in the SHOOTING INDUSTRY AWARDS 2009 in the sporting gun magazine "is suitable for both fox and vermin control and lowland de
  2. i dont know how to speed up the process but for me i think having a closed ticket in the first place is a joke. When i first recieved my FAC when i was 17 (12 years ago) for a .22 and 22-250 it was "open" to be used on any land i had permission on. If the FEO dont think we have the sense to make our own minds up whether the land is suitable for whatever calibre we may posess seems ludacris to me. Anyway just my opinion.
  3. 40 so far, i agree east coast the foxs i shoot are just not interested in the call.
  4. The simplest, cheapest way to stop it is to put some insulating tape across the bottom portion of your scopes front lens. Alternatively you could also do as deker says and move the lamp mount as far back as you can and use the flip up style cover on the front lens, this works equally as well.
  5. It certainly looks like a badgers work to me, could you get a lend of one of those trail cams just to make sure. my T3 stock was the exact same till i took some sand paper to it.

  10. i had it done at border barrels , i went for the archer, 1:9 twist cut to 20". Border barrels is pretty close so is nice and handy.
  11. the 22-250 really is a great calibre and always thought the exit holes were huge utill i had it rebarelled to a 243 . now with it shooting 65gr vmax i wouldnt call them exit "holes" more like opened completely up on broadside shots. strange thing was i also shot a fox facing me at about 20 yds , bullet went in the chest cavity and there was no exit just all jellied inside.
  12. i say go for a leupold then you could buy my VX111 8.5-25x50 LRT with varmint reticle and it just so happens i also have a set of optilock mounts for you
  13. Hi Jim, the reason we put the dogs before the bitches is incase a bitch is coming out of season stops the dogs dragging there noses round the ring Colm that does really make sense, i know for sure my dog would have his nose firmly planted on the ground if a bitch was in season. As regards to the dog who won, i think he is a cracking big dog and i am surprised he doesnt win more shows.

  20. i havnt used mine much maybe 6 times or so but it has been the best money i have ever spent on a battery. Because i am a solo lamper i now really enjoy walking over the hill for 2/3 hours instead of dreading it, carrying either the 7ah or 18ah battery. i have replaced my 100w bulb with a 50w one so cant comment on how long it would last.
  21. tell us more snap , powder, primer, seating depth, velocity, case trim length
