What alarms me most these days is the government (this and previous) and media (especially certain newspapers) trying to set up what i would call "false division", their most obvious being, in it's simplest form, the current "work good, benefit bad" mantra, and the fact that the word "scrounger" is now accepted language, even in highest office.The Defence Minister recently suggested that if benefits were cut further, the money could be spent on re-supplying the Army ( soldiers versus scroungers ). the Health Secretary said something similar about hospitals (nurses versus scroungers). Sorry to disagree Mr.Mod, but when Thatcher began the sale of Council houses all those years ago, the laws were constructed so that proceeds could not be used to replace the properties sold. Therefore the stock of social housing (where rents are controlled!) is greatly reduced.These new measures are an extension of that policy ie designed to further undermine and weaken the availability of social housing, and also include plans to pay housing benefit directly to the tenant who then pays the landlord (think we can all see a hole in that plan!). I don't really like discussing our personal circumstances, but my wife, who is permanently disabled, and I are affected by this issue. The simple choice we have been given is to move house or stump up almost £15 per week ! We have worked all our lives (now in our 50's) until she became too ill to continue about 3 years ago. We have been lucky enough to find an exchange to a smaller home that we are happy with, but no-one should be forced to leave their home, for that is the reality of the situation however you try to dress it up, and what really concerns me is the people who can't find somewh

cheers mate it really a last resort for me the neighbours say its alright its just his breed but another few weeks down the line when the dogs waking there ben up all the time im sure they wont say it ok to be honest i hate the feckers next door but i wouldnt like my kids being woke up Congratulations on having such a responsible attitude mate. People down the road from me have 6 or 7 dogs barking and howling from 6am every day. Wish they could be as responsible as you obviously are. Well done !!!

I have friends who live on as large estate (shan't say where !) that seems to be populated with a***-holes who parade around with a shark on a lead. Cropped hair, mis-spelt tattos, stinking of cannnabis - we all know the kind !! Those people, and the Paki in the pix, are doing an enormous injustice to one of the finest breeds on the earth. After the humble chicken, Staffords must be the most abused and misunderstood animal there is !!

I saw a TV programme this morning about the RSPCA, which has made me reconsider (yet again) an organisation that I used to respect. They received reports that 2 men had been seen removing swans from a park. Someone followed them home and passed on the address. Inspector attends but, of course, no-one speaks English (they are all Romanian), so she doesn't get very far, but does see a large pot cooking on the stove. I put the claps on before I had read the whole thread. My great-grandfather was killed at the Somme, my grandfather served for over 20 years and my uncles have over 100 years service between them. My wife's first husband served in the Falklands (genuinely -I've seen photos) and a school-mate of mine was killed on HMS Galahad, and I have nothing but the deepest respect for them all.
