  1. Thank you, Sussex ! Should have proof read, before I posted - I've corrected it !
  2. Seems that we have dealt all the cards to the Turks, vis a viz our migrant dilemma.... We want the 'refugees' to stay in safe, established camps in Turkey. We want Turkey to stop turning a blind eye to smuggler's vessels heading to Europe, and take back passengers on intercepted vessels. We want Turkey to help us repatriate failed asylum seekers. Turkey says "This all costs money, you know !". So, we say " Here's 6 billion Euros to tide you over." "Oh" says Turkey....."And fast-track membership of the EU !"..... Now, many members were very opposed to this until rece
  3. I'd stick my neck out and say that the ex-pats of Gibraltar have more allegiance to the UK than to the EU.......
  4. They've even got the Union on their back ! Happy days !
  5. I don't understand voter apathy - I get why people are disillusioned with politics, but I don't see how they think abstaining will make any difference. We have the once in a lifetime referendum (take note, Scotland !), and all I seem to hear is pessimistic cries of "a leap in the dark", or threats to break up the Union, if one side doesn't get its way.......its depressing! We have our own PM talking the country down, saying we'd be " less safe, weaker and worse off" without the backing of our age-old friends in Germany ! We have the 5th largest economy in the world, so I don't un
  6. It's the BCC mate (British Chamber of Commerce), not the BBC..... I knew that. Just testing. It was the BBC report on the BCC. FFS. OMG ! LMFAO ! (Apparently !)

  12. Saw it on Top Gear in the week. Cheers, D. Thanks D. Saw it a couple of years ago, but couldn't remember where......
  13. Drink-driving is no laughing matter, but I once saw it come up in an interview with the actor Ryan Reynolds. He called in at a local bar, stayed longer than he'd intended and had much more to drink than he should. So, sensibly, he decided to leave his car behind and walk home. Unfortunately, as he was crossing a road, he was run over and injured....... .......by a drunk driver !!
  14. Plead guilty and don't waste a solicitor's, or the court's, time. Anyone who does this is a damn fool and should be punished to the limit of the law.

  16. Been trying to find a mentor, even joined facebook so i could look lol. As for the ferret finder, yep, allready decided I will get one asap. Well, good luck with it, mate.......sorry I can't help you ! You could do what i did and just take any old mate with you, so you've got another pair of hands and eyes ?
  17. As has already been said, t shows the dreadful state of modern politics, and the deep mistrust felt by the US electorate. Trump has no political experience, little support among the heirarchy of his party, espouses controversial ideas and has managed to alienate a large swathe of the electorate, and yet.........

  19. I've just started ferretting (so I don't claim any expertise) but I benefitted hugely from a few trips with a mate who knows the ropes. If you can find a mentor, grab him and learn everything he or she knows. I got 20 purse nets for Xmas and I was given my ferret for free, but I saved some money and bought a second-hand Mk3 and collar for a hundred quid.....and although it's a lot of money, I'm glad I did ! I went out on my own for the first time last weekend, and the peace of mind it brings you is priceless ! You've got the summer to save up, so go for it and you'll have some of the bes
  20. I've been using that one for years ! The wife puts it down to the beer belly.....well, nothing grows in the shade, does it ?
  21. I heard on the radio today that scientists claim that they are close to being able to 'download' information into the human brain overnight, so removing the need to spend years acquiring a skill, ability, proficiency or even a detailed knowledge of a given subject. Those of us old enough to remember Joe 90 saw this coming years ago, but, if this could be done, what skill or knowledge would you have downloaded while you slept ?

  23. Having been a public sector worker in several fields, over the years, I can tell you that teachers, social workers and the like are very left-leaning. The most active political groups among these workers are usually the Labour party and SWP. During it's day, Militant had a large representation among what we used to call council workers, where nearly every union rep belonged to Militant, Socialist Worker or one of the incarnations of the Communist Party, and support was high for groups like the old Anti Nazi League and the Anti Poll Tax campaign.I worked in a London housing office completely in
