  1. Vet.. Now a private hire taxi driver after a long list of jobs that didn't include being a vet..
  2. Sorry man, lost interest as soon as the first two in the list of "top 20 fastest planes" were the f-117 and B2..
  3. Correct.. Out of the 3 V bombers only the Vulcan was really suitable for the new change in strategy. The Victor and Valiant airframes stressed terribly compared to it because they were designed to operate in the thinner air at altitude. Thats why out of the 3 the Vulcan had by far the longest service as a bomber.
  4. A lot of them will be, its just they've got new user names!
  5. Think they were hawks by then, not 100% on that though. I remember sitting in the cockpit of a mock up one.
  6. Just googled and came up with this: http://www.vaq136.com/brawdy/index.html Probably from around the years I went.
  7. Again, not seen one since I was a kid at the air show. Thinking back, christ it was a good show!
  8. Modern warfare aircraft for a pure out and out fighter, the English Electric Lightning for me There used to be one of those in an old yard by the A1 at Newark. It was there for years, covered in graffiti, on show for everyone that drove by. Then a few years ago it had to be scrapped, I think it was in a dangerous state or something. Yes I remember that one, I also remember seeing them at Finningley airshow they were such an aggressive looking but beautiful thing. Malts correct the fuel consumption was horrendous, I recall watching a program several years ago and it said something like it
  9. Modern warfare aircraft for a pure out and out fighter, the English Electric Lightning for meGreat choice, but it was a point defence interceptor rather than a fighter. Built with the single purpose of getting up and at the big bombers as soon as possible and so by design was extremely limited in any other role by its fuel capacity. Loved that plane, seen them at the airshow as a kid and all. Still holds a few records to this very day. For me it represented the pinnacle of British air power from a time when we used to lead the world in design, manufacturing and tech.
  10. At least he's a NH ref.. That's about the only good thing I can think to say about it!
  11. Just reading up. Apparently the Saudis are saying they are baffled by reports of the potential flogging. They're saying due to his age and condition it was never even on the cards in the first place.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34518706 In any case, I've little sympathy. Like others have said, it's no big secret you can get yourself into a world of shit by supplying alcohol over there..

    Kids And Flu

Sandy, how many different strains of the flu virus does this nasal spray innoculate against? I've never got this flu jab thingy when 'flu' itself is just a catch all name for a collection of subtype viruses.. Not that I object, my kids have had it and one of them was jabbed against bird flu a few years back
  13. Where my parents live, where I grew up, we were quite privileged really. They've probably seen the Vulcan a dozen times this summer, over the years obviously many more times. A couple of months back my dad saw it point it's nose up and floor it, climbing like feck and making a hell of a racket, right over the village. He'll take that memory to his deathbed I'm sure. It's not uncommon to see Spitfires, Hurricanes, The Lancaster, even Wellingtons and Dakotas. As well as modern aircraft obviously. Seeing a couple of F-15s real high, having what looked like a mock dogfight was cool. Th
  14. Even better if you're getting on with the bloke mate!
  15. Turn that up and imagine you're stood at the safety barrier at an air show as an impressionable young lad as it comes down the runway, right in front of your eyes.
  16. Sad day. Saw one at an air show as a kid, that distinctive Vulcan howl as the olympus engines revved up and drank the air in over the intakes as it came down the runway will stay with me for life.
  17. ..plus if its only 21 hours why not get a part time job to supliment your income?
  18. Stick with it, when you've qualified you'll have a better car than your mates. There's serious money in heritage stuff like bridges and listed properties because there isn't anywhere near the skill base today as there was years ago.
  19. Great result for your lads, fair play! Feel free to join the debate/banter/pisstaking on the official thread! http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/347374-official-thl-2015-rugby-world-cup-thread/page-35?do=findComment&comment=4051306
  20. Well played Ireland! France/NZ was the QF I wanted to see. If anyone can nobble the All Blacks before they start getting their shit together it will be the Frogs..
  21. Randy little bugger! Could be a nervous/frustration thing? Get him out for a good run and see if it makes any difference..
  22. Cuthbert will be a permanent fixture from now on, Liam Williams has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament with a foot injury..
