This lad. Took anything I asked of him, was sound, loyal, and very effective. He was lovely around the house, easy in every way, and was a joy to own.

They will improve 10 fold if you do. It's a know fact that dogs kept in the house are fannys. They get fed every day and pampered and don't have to work for it like a kennelled dog. You are so right. If mine were not allowed on the sofa, they would smash the mice I course each night. Its my own fault

yeah i've read these excuses, they don't wash with me. if you can't stop a dog mounting random bitches, running off or pissing in the house you shouldn't have a dog at all,and that sort of person certainly imo couldn't be trusted to then look after and nurture a dog which has just had such a massive change made to their hormone levels. as for the cancer argument,it's just silly imo. you can get cancer in your eye,why not get one eye removed? half the chances. Each time a cell divides, there is a risk of mutation causing cancer. If the cells don't divide much, the risk is lower. Th

nope - 12 years of clipping each summer ( several times over the summer ) and the coat stayed the same each time. The only difference was the colour - unclipped he was brindle, clipped he was a light fawn colour, as the hair wasn't long enough to have the colours on it.

so how does that work, from what i can gather all the electricity produced goes back into the system and you get a payment that offsets your own usage? Thats what he said - they bill him for what he uses, and for what they get from the panels, and the 2 bills pretty much cancel each other out, so his net payment is between £20 and -£20 each quarter , and he just lets it roll over each time, it usually cancels itself out over the year. His other lad goes to uni this september, so he is expecting it to change a bit then, but on the whole, it balances. He is with " ecotricity" - excuse spelli

I used to take the horse clippers to my DHx - several times over the summer, basically giving him a number 1 hairdo all over. He was much more comfortable, and didn't over heat on walks. Took a few weeks of practice getting him used to the feel of clippers on his body- same as it would a horse, but once he was used to it, I could clip him out in half an hour. I left legs as they were, for protection from thorns etc, and face, as wasn't needed - other than that he looked like a greyhound.

My neighbour has 20 on his roof, he says it is about cost even for the electric - he ( him, wife, 2 teenage kids, 1 only at home at weekends) says it covers the electric the house needs, and he doesn't worry about selling back. We have a well here, that supplies the 4 houses - so we don't pay water bills. He reckons he saves well over £3k a year on utilities from it, and the installation costs were paid back in the first 2 years.

tied up in markets ready to be cooked that would be a culture shock that Yes, very much. They tie the dogs front legs up over their shoulders - taking them back under themselves, over the loins, and tie at the "wrists". To say it makes me sick is an understatement - and I have a very strong stomach, and don't get queasy at anything. I understand it is their culture, and we slaughter beef and lamb etc, but the conditions of it are very different.
-
They have a different culture - and they are not going to change - just as we have our own culture. I don't agree with it - it's horrific to my eyes, and the thought of it makes me sick. My brother lives and works in China, and has done for 10 years or more. The things he has seen, and eaten, turn my stomach, and have strained our relationship to breaking point. When he tells them he has a sister who keeps several dogs in the house - they can't understand it - anymore than I can understand that they sell them tied up in markets, ready to be cooked.

Vasectomy doesn't always stop the dog from looking for bitches in season. Vasectomy still leaves the dog at risk of testicular cancer later in life, now pet dogs are living far far longer than nature initially intended. On the balance of things, castrated dogs are generally easier to cope with ( from a female hunting point of view ) and the operation involved is barely any different if you castrate, than if you do a vasectomy - and I have done lots of both in dogs.
-
If it is a 3 year old injury, you are likely to know already what is happening to the dog - with soundness etc.
-
My Grandad made himself a combined walking and shooting stick - took him weeks to find the right bit of wood. He had a shoulder injury, so couldn't raise his right arm that high, and had poor power in it, so he only used the stick for balance, rather than putting full weight through, but needed the shooting stick to take the weight of the gun. He had a stick with standard V top, that also had a side branch, that went fairly vertical, and had a v above the main stalk. The downside was, he was also very adept at swinging the stick and smacking me lightly on the back of the legs if I wasn't beh

You're welcome. Be good to see some pics of her and the pups. You've done well to get them over the first week after such a hard start

I agree with Lab - professional photographers should do just that -others will help, as Socks has said, in the way their training is best applied - it is the general public ones that make me cringe - they don't run, they don't help, they just video it. I was listening to a guy on the radio earlier who said it was a form of stress response - if they video it, they are not there, they are watching it on their phone, so it isn't " them" - it kinda made sense in a way.

I've just changed to a band one, after many many years of elastic - and it is a big difference for me. I no longer have a rat in the garden stealing the chook food !
